So I have been looking at digital and internet ham stuff. Loaded echolink on phone and pc to play with. Does anyone else use it?

Any thoughts?

I tried using it for an Overland Bound Friday night chatter but couldn't figure out how to get into the chat.

Interestingly enough....I'm KN4UFU.

So we got our tickets fairly close together...
Haven't done much, but so far no qs0s

Yes, I use echo link regularly for morning drive time on the GARA repeater.

Yall need to get some vanity calls asap. It's free lol

Aint that the truth, some of these 2x3's are a mouth full.

I tried to play with echolink a couple times trying to check in on the arfcom net but couldn't get my mic on the computer to cooperate. Haven't bothered putting it on my phone, if we ever get out repeaters linked up with a node or with allstar I'll probably start playing around with it.

OP, you mentioned digital, hotspots are getting pretty cheap. Aside from the atrocious audio quality and the fact that its VOIP for hams, they are a pretty cool little resource to have in the shack or in the truck if you have a wifi hotspot on your phone.

Worked with early Cisco ip phones, and set up and maintained voip radio interfaces and consoles at a past job. I got the arrl digital book, and am reading up on ham modes. Since echolink is a free download, I thought I would poke around some.

Have to see where this winds up. Lol

You will you will need an official copy of your radio license. Follow their instructions. I sent them an official copy that I downloaded when I first received it and it still got rejected. SMH.

Already hooked up and authenticated.

Took a couple tries for their system to allow the upload, but once I got it to them I was good.
