Because they don't really want to stop the problem. While it makes me feel icky posting a Brady video this is an example of what I was talking about. Here's a private seller clearly operating as a dealer. We dont see that much here in NC as it's very rare to see private sellers rent a table. Its obviously profitable enough there that he didnt mind paying for the table. Can't find the video but saw another one where a husband and wife team rolled in with a stroller of at least a dozen guns they sold just like that guy while walking the aisles. Once those were gone they went back to their car and loaded up another dozen to sell. If the cops and other fed agents who attend these shows would actually do their job and enforce laws already on books to stop this stuff it would decrease the level of it occurring....at the shows at least.
Something else to consider is that in many states its totally different than NC in that long guns and handguns can be sold privately with nothing more than an ID....if the seller cares enough to check it. Let's be honest here and have some real convo. I know it sucks to say but we all know some people who will and have sold guns to people without caring about their ID, their background, etc. I've witnessed it first hand many times. It's those people that are bringing heat to gun shows, private sales, and l other things which affect lawful gun owners. Gun owners can be our own worst enemy at times.
