Is a centerfire rifle suppressor “self-cleaning”?

You hear this a lot. The short answer is “no”.

Ray from TBAC started a thread on ARF recently that will be eye opening to some. They got an Ultra 7 back that had seen some 28K rounds of 6.5 CM through it. The silencer weight 10.5oz more than when it was new. Metered >20dB louder than it should.

To be clear, this is a very different situation than the comment in my sig.

Question is, can they clean it at this point?

Says they offer one free cleaning per year.

Also says centerfire cans don’t really need it. Think I’ll go post that link in the ARF thread. Sounds like they use ultrasonic and/or “the dip” to clean them if CLR doesn’t get it done.

And is putting the Dip in a titanium can safe? Or will it damage the material....stainless steel only?


Looks like I need to start weighing my centerfire cans because I’ve shot a lot of rounds though some of mine
