This isn't a political thread, and I hope it doesn't go that way. I'll avoid names and parties so we can stay on topic.

I was reading this article on Fox News where a congressman has some business dealings with a man, born in the Soviet Union. He is the founder and CEO of Worldwide Aeros Corp., which makes blimps for military and commercial customers. His business has also been involved in weapons manufacturing, working with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense to produce a modified version of the M4 and M16 rifles, according to reports.

What? A factory in a former Soviet Republic is making the M4 & M16? I know, Ukraine has been a solid ally since their independence after the Soviet breakup. And the USA has been sending them a lot of military aid ever since the USSR (oops, I mean "Our Friends The Russians") just decided to steal part of Ukraine like in the good old days.

Does anyone know about this M4/M16 thing? Has anyone ever seen one of these rifles? How are they different from the ones our soldiers carry?

Russian made AR15’s exist. They are very popular over there. American made ARs are very expensive over there. Russians like most other people around the world, love all things American.

So are the Ukraine ARs something shady or a similar thing?

That wood furniture is sexy!

I'm sure I'm going to ask something stupid here, but please don't slam me too hard. I had no idea such a thing existed. I think the Cyrillic is very cool. Did I see it correctly, it's semi auto only, no select fire? Can you buy them in the US?

This type of rifle can’t imported from Russia.

Semi auto rifles are legal for personal civilian ownership in Russia. They can own 30 round magazines, but they are only allowed to load 10 rounds at a time.

This was a pretty interesting conversation about Russian Gun Laws

I've seen one Colt M4 marked gun that wasn't a Colt M4. While in 5.56 and using M16 magazines, receiver extension and stock. The action internally was a modified AK.

CD
Id love to see pictures of that if you have any.
