them apple dumplins.....

Care to share the recipe?

Happy to help out a fellow long hair. Copied and pasted from the Battery Oaks Meet and Greet thread:

I thought my wife made the dumplins but it was my mother, so here is the recipe, verbatim from her. Since this is my mother, consider this a disclaimer not to read if you are easily offended, confused, ethnic, unrepentantly northern, or have blood glucose issues. I'm sure all of these "measurements" are purely estimates and eyeballs, so don't feel constrained by anything the AMA might warn you against.

2 cans Great Value Big Butter Crescent rolls (that is the Wal Mart brand)
12 oz Mtn Dew
1 & 1/2 cups of sugar
Cinnamon/Allspice/apple pie spice to taste
1 stick of butter (I asked if it was salted butter and she laughed "yes, unless you're quair or something")
4-5 large Granny Smith apples which have to be from the Carolinas, apparently because those apples from Spanish or near Spanish (Florida?) speaking countries are flavorless trash. More commentary came with that, but it probably isn't needed here.

Mix the sugar, melted butter, and spice in a bowl, it'll be grainy.
Whop the crescent rolls
Roll up about a quarter to a half of each apple (sliced thin) in each crescent roll, peench it shut and put the seam down in:

a 9"x13" (you know, from "here to there" with your hands) GREASED pan until you've filled the pan.

Put a handful of the grainy mix over each dumplin, then pour the Mountain Dew over the whole thing.

The oven should have been preheated to 350 before all of this
bake 40-45 minutes.

We are having some of these later on today. Thanks to @premise for sharing this.
