law tactical folding stock

Considering one of these for my AR Pistol. Pretty sure it's legal, just want to double check here first. Thnx

I’ve got one, they’re well built and work well. As stated the gun won’t function folded but it will fire one round while folded. They’re kinda heavy if you’re trying to build a lightweight AR. I like mine for what it is but I probably won’t get another one.

The only thing that functions is when it’s on a IMI Kidon Pistol Conversion which is a chassis for a Glock, CZ or other pistol.

This is my thought, exactly.

I'll take it a step further and say that the thought has crossed my mind to sell it.

It’s crossed my mind too honestly but I hardly use the gun it’s on so I just don’t think about it much.

I have one on my .300 pistol and I really like it. Makes it fold up nice and compact to fit in a backpack. Also makes it a lot easier to transport in confined places like a vehicle. Sure, it’s a pretty expensive accessory, but once you’ve used one you’ll be able to appreciate how well built and functional they are.

Sylvan just came out with a $175 MSRP copy, that looks like they'll get sued for.

I saw your other post, what Vertx bag are you using? https://www.carolinafirearmsforum.com/index.php?threads/truck-gun-questions.55240/#post-970694
That’s a Vertx Gamut 2.0 and I also have a Eberlestock Cherry Bomb. I prefer the Vertx bag, since it has a little more room and can hold more than just the gun and a few mags. Both are very good options for a CCW bag.

Please post up a comparison and review.

Well can’t speak for the item, but the company ships fast. Ordered this morning around 0600. Received a email at 0900 with a tracking number and it said the item has shipped. I’m sure they just generated the tracking, but still not bad.

I believe the Sylvan is aluminum vs the Law being made of steel. Never handled one personally but they have decent reviews from what I’ve seen.

The Sylvan Arms adaptor came in yesterday, honestly surprised by how fast the order handled. I have not had a chance to compare side by side at this time. I hope one day this weekend I can get it on a lower. In the mean time I pulled the speficiations off Law Tactical website and Sylvan Arms websites. @Whoknows is correct Law Tactical Folder is steel and Sylvan Arms is aluminum.

OK, I is confruzed... How can it be standard 1-3/16” X 16 Thread and does not require disassembly for installation?

The Law Tactical Folder (the part itself) requires disassembly for installation on the lower. Also requires a special tool for installation on the lower (which is included in the package). The Sylvan Arms is plug and play and only requires a standard AR armorer wrench to install. You still have to take the buffer tube off the lower for installation with either of the folding adaptors. Sorry about the confusion, I did not do a good job of explaining the process the first time.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info!!

Sorry guys, haven’t had the opportunity to install the Sylvan Arms folder yet. I will say just by holding and manipulating it open and closed it feels really nice. One feature I really like over the Law Tactical Folder is the Sylvan Arms has a ball bearing detent to keep it in the open position. The Law Tactical Folder swings loosely in the open position.

I actually swapped my Sylvan for a law. The Sylvan looks to blocky for my taste.

Thanks again lol!! It locks up tight and folds good. The bolt spacer just sits there when its folded though, nothing locks it in like the Law. It is neat to have and handle them both at the same time.

When it is folded and in a backpack, can that bolt extension fall out?
Absolutely.
It has a retention tab in there but it is not close enough to the extension for retention. It also has two O-rings on the extention but the fit is still less than finger tight at best.20201223_094527.jpg20201223_094639.jpg20201223_094707.jpg

Just for comparison here is the LAW. You have to depress a button to remove extention on it. Sorry for the crappy pics my phone is all janked up.20201223_095912.jpg20201223_095809.jpg20201223_095850.jpg

This is enough of a concern to relegate this to range-toy status.
Losing the bolt extention or it dropping out and having to locate it in a pack is what does it for me on the Sylvan. The LAW is on my hog gun and I trust it 100%.

True, I didn’t think about the other generations. Which generation is yours?

No clue. Bought it already installed on a lower. The detent is fairly strong but if you hold it parallel and bump it the brace will swing down.

@Infamous1, guess what! My Law Tactical Folder has the ball bearing detent as well. I did not remember it, when I first got and installed it several years ago. The SB brace contacts the side of the receiver keeping it from folding over far enough to ball bearing to engage and hold it over. When I remove the brace it folds over in place as it should.
