Calling for pumping service tomorrow.

Anybody have their septic tank pumped recently to give me an idea what I'm going to have to shell out? Not sure of its size, 2br 2ba house @ 1600sqft. I'd guess 750-1k gal.

Should I go ahead and dig out the lid?

Suspect it will be full of maxi pads from the arrogant 17 year old who knows everything...

$400-600 just to pump. The service might charge to dig out the lid.

Had mine done back in the summer for house inspection. It was $600 for the pumping and the inspection.

$4-600, you guys are killing me. :(

I think time before last it cost me $400 and last time I used a different service and it was only $200. Talk to your neighbor and shop around.

Friday mine was $275...……………………..gotta change Something. Done just 3 years ago!!! Before that 30 YEARS!

And that right there is proof positive that all these CFF"ers that have been showing up at Billy's are full of it or at least they used to be. :D

Mine was 160 last fall 1000 gal We dug it or else it was $50 for foot for them to dig it

FYI - DO NOT let wife or anyone else put those cakes of concentrated chlorine in your commode tanks!! Sure it keeps the bowl clean, but it also kills necessary bacteria in your septic system. I have been on many calls where they told me they had it pumped a short time ago and it was backing up again. Almost always I find those cakes in the tank.

Got the inflow side uncovered. Pulled the lid out of morbid curiosity.

Yeah. It's full.

Inflow side

Outflow side. Started filling with liquid shizzle as soon as I got it dug. Yes. That's a fuxing gas line running across the corner of the lid. I also accidentally ripped out the unused phone line that runs to the shop

Remember this fuxery?

It runs right across the top of the tank too.

Had mine pumped last fall. It was $180 and I dug it up. $25 more if they do it.

If I knew it would only be $25 I'd have let them. I'm going to call a few local folks tomorrow and see what the damage is.

what I want to know is there anything to put in the toilets or sinks that will clean out the line that run to the septic?

Are you sure the drain field is working?

There is a product labeled for drain field repair. I have used it a couple of times. Can't really say wether it helped or not but it didn't hurt.

Well, the lower of the 4 runs is wet at the end. I'll get it pumped and reassessed.

When I say it was full I mean it was full. I pulled the inflow lid and I wasn't sure I would be able to get it back on in time.

Onslow County, Ray's Septic, charges me $210 to pump my 10k gallon tank. Suggested that this be done every two years.

Separate issue, the grinder/pump motor just cost me $795 to replace.

I'm in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1500sqft home. No digging required.

I think they are working fine. I think the lines that run from the house to the tank is the problem, I know that all lines will get buildup in them so I want to know if there is anything that will clean them out without having to have someone come and charge you $400-$600 to clean them out. I know this because we were charged that a few years ago to clean them out.

Transu in Clemmons. 225 if they don't have to dig, 275 if they do. They're busy but they'll try to get out sometime today.

Looks like prices vary greatly across the state. Just had one pumped last November in Rockingham County and it was $200.00 and they dug the cap. It was a new property to me and I had no idea where the tank was. Made a mark outside the crawl space where the sewer lines was heading and they dug the cap up first try. I was impressed!

Transou always did a fine job for me . Came out Christmas eve a few years ago.

No but if you have one, it's a very good idea to run a snake backwards up the line while the tank is open. I have gone to a number that had the tank pumped and still wouldn't drain due to backed up solid waste up the line. Most septic companies won't do this or don't have a snake on the truck. Also while they are still there, and tank is open - please flush all toilets in the house and make sure flow is good even though the tank might be empty.

This is what my plumber recommends for clogs/slow drains. It works like magic.

Not if you have old cast iron to the tank -plastic pipe fine but that stuff is the residential version of some industrial sewer cleaner I used before called "Mule Kick". My ace helper turned a 30 gallon barrel of that over into a manhole -it blew cast iron covers off 3 downstream manholes 10 feet in the air!
