So some of my family members will be in town this weekend for SoCom tournament at the cellular center, and they are looking for advice on places to eat, doesn't have to be a brewery or bar but will go if food is good. Thanks in advance James

Tupelo Honey is good for most meals. If beer is their thing, the Wicked Weed shop or the Wicked Weed Funkatorium are both good. The Funkatorium only does tapas and mainly serves sours. Sierra Nevada is one to check out, but it gets SUPER crowded, like almost not worth going. If you do want to venture there, it'll be at least an hour wait.

If they get out to Waynesville, which might be less crowded, Sweet Onion is a great place. It would be worth the trip for dinner alone. Boojums if you want beer/bar food. Ian and Jojo's Pizzzaria if that's your thing. The Patio Bistro if they are there around Lunch. All are in Waynesville.

That city changes/grows so rapidly with places to eat and drink nowadays, it's impossible to keep up with!

If they want to stay in the downtown area and watch the freak show, they could literally throw a rock and where ever it lands would be a place to eat.

When we go to "Asheville," we stay in nearby Arden/Bent Creek at a bed and breakfast (www.bentcreekns.com). There is an independent steak house/grill place on 191 that's my favorite. https://thestoneridgetavern.com/ Located here: https://goo.gl/maps/Q8vpVWKz35oVQiEA7

I've yet to have anything that's not really good there. When I have to stay downtown for a conference or something, I drive the 15 min to Stone Ridge Tavern.

Second place finish I would give to Pack's Tavern, located in the downtown area. https://packstavern.com/

Buxton Hall does good whole hog BBQ. Also makes a killer smoked Friend chicken sandwich. Good bar with good beer selection.

Barleys is a fun tap room but the pizza is only OK.

Foothills Butcher Bar is a place for good burgers and meats of all kinds.

Luellas BBQ is pretty popular.

Zia Taqueria is a good I like is better than White Duck.

Burial is one of the best Brewery in the a city full of breweries.

Rockys Hot Chicken is excellent.

Rocky’s is my favorite spot out there! Luella’s is also very good. Buxton didn’t rock my socks. Sierra Nevada is good and has great atmosphere/views.
I don’t drink beer and am very “meat & potatoes” FYI.

I’ve been out to the airport area at least once a month for work for the past ~5yr and always venture out when I’m there over night. Definitely a lot of great places to eat and drink.

You can likely ger BBQ and other American meals in your community-Asheville is the place to step out of your box and try something different.
If you are lookin for good Tia/ food --Wild ginger on Hendersonville road is wonderful. Plenty of parking in its strip center. Its small,, usually busy with a wait for a table and very reasonably priced
Romantic, expensive and excellent small portion food is Plant on Merrimon ave. BTW its Vegan but you will not know it.
Excellent Chinese food for the family Oriental Pavilion in Westgate center, Also the best take out and delivery in town.
Parking can be an issue downtown. There are a few good restaurants within walkin distance of the Wall street parking garage. BUT the elevator is being replaced so you will have to use the stairs or park ground floor if available. Chai Pani on wall street with outside dinning and people watching, excellent Indian food, casual atmosphere, as well there are several other good restaurants in the grove arcade.
And plant restaurant on wall street.
There is Mela Indian buffet down town on Lexington and this place is a treat, Relatively inexpensive for downtown and DELICIOUS!
As well as Jeresulum Garden on Patton across from the drum circle at Prichard park. And -Belly dancers in full costume on Friday and Sat nights!

Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack is where I stop to eat nearly every time I stop Over in Asheville. There are two locations in the area.

For some reason,I’ve never found any BBQ that was very good and worth recommending in Asheville. Maybe I’m just spoiled here in Charlotte?
