I am not sure how many times it can be said but for the stores bottom line removing guns and associated merchandise increased sales, profitability and stock price. They stopped selling guns in March of 2019. The stock was trading at $35 a share. By Jan 2020 they were trading at a 52 week high of $49. Like everyone else in retail right now they have taken a dump since late Feb. It is ok to not like them. It is ok to stop buying from them. What I don't understand is the spin on the narrative that they lost money because they stopped selling guns.
As to Academy they have not raised their prices on ammo as much as other people. I don't look at their guns because they really don't sell anything that I am interested in but we don't know if they are "making" any money. Walmart was "making" money on ammo even thought they sold a lot of it. Selling lots of something does not equal profitability.
It is obtuse to always look at the world through the sights of a gun. Everything is not a gun related issue. Sometimes when all you do is carry a hammer everything around you turns into a nail. What really sucks here is the people who are out of work. The people who are losing their jobs and are being put on the brink of losing everything. That is the real story here. Thousands of people are out of work with no idea when they will be working again. Millions of small businesses are never going to reopen. At the same time people are dying other people are putting their lives on the line to try to save them and all you care about is where you can buy your ammo cheap. You are pretty calculus not to care about the people effected by this. Enjoy your cheap ammo.
