Panic ammo buying?

I couldn't believe the news of Academy cleared out so I had to go and see in Greenville yesterday. I drove over for S&G and no kidding it was slim pickings. As I rounded the aisle there were 7-10 grown men kneeling, bending, stooping, admiring a couple boxes of 380 and 9mm no joke as that was all that was left. I uncontrollably busted out laughing I mean belly laughing, hard to catch your breath, and they all turned and looked at me, scorning. It looked like a bunch of frat boys looking a their first hooha at a strip club "porkys style". no kidding. While this is happening an employee is nearly jumping over people, he is on a mission to put out signs that say basically "3 boxes only" I turned around to leave mission accomplished and literally bumped into a stock cart with 9mm HST for $22 at eye level, I picked up 3 boxes and left. Did I need it no, but seemed like a good price for HST.

Yeah. Midway is totally out of all 7.62x39 other than the ludicrously expensive brands not worth getting. Cabela's, Academy and Bass Pro were all out of it in Raleigh. Mace Sports in Mebane was totally swamped and out of it too. I managed to find about 800-900 rounds each at the Academy in Burlington and at Liberty Guns in Hillsborough. Every single store I went to had been hit hard in terms of bulk ammo. Expensive hunting calibers tended not to be hit hardly at all, but FMJ bulk "tactical" calibers and all pistol calibers were each nearly picked clean at each store. AR and AK mags were virtually nonexistent at every store but Liberty Guns in Hillsborough, who still had a fair bit of 30rd 5.56 Pmags. Thankfully Midway is *not* yet out of 30rd AK mags (you just can only get five per order).

What a time to buy a gun in a caliber for which I didn't already have a significant stockpile of ammo. Thankfully I'm totally fine otherwise, and have absolutely no need to worry about buying anything more for my other calibers for a good long while. Which is good, because I absolutely do not believe in overpaying for things I don't really need, and ammo prices are definitely starting to go up for the moment.

I'm sure I have enough to outlast my lifespan on the boog field. We keep anywhere from hundreds to thousands of rounds on hand for every chambering we own, with the exception of 12ga & .45-70. I'm hit or miss on boolitz, but I do have enough of everything else, including dies, to roll my own for almost everything we shoot as well.

I’d like to see that video run on 60 Minutes.

Got a pretty good bonus a couple of months ago and picked up a few thousand bucks worth of ammo at the time. I'm thinking that might have been a good move. 45 Colt, .223 9mm, 12 gauge buckshot 45 ACP and 300 BO . I'm set for a few years.

FWIW Aim surplus has wolf 9mm for normal prices still. Just picked up another 2K

Even 22lr is gone. Just watched Sportsman's Guide sell out all their CCI QUIET so I know the apocalypse is nigh.

Did an inventory of my ammo yesterday....plenty of .223 and .22 but thought my supply of 9mm was more. Still have a decent supply but didn't realize I had been shooting so much of it the last couple of months.

They have this much left at this time...

(And AIM10 didn’t work when I tried to apply it)

My nephew just called me. I had been telling him since Trump has been in office to buy a couple of boxes of ammo every payday. He didn't listen. He went by Academy in Greenville to pick up some ammo. He said they have a 3 box limit and most everything in handgun and 223 is sold out. I just said "Yeah. I believe it" all the while thinking you should have listened knucklehead.

I upped the cents per round on all my wikiarms alerts since I wasn't getting any.

.05 on 22lr
.20 on 9mm
.28 on 45
.30 on 5.56

we'll see what comes down the pipe I guess.

@Millie is awful quite... :)
I have ammo, I'm not going to find any more at a price that I can afford, so no sense getting all goofy over it, right? LoL.

I've curtailed my social activities, and am bored at home. I do take the occasional drive to see what's going on in the area. Not a lot else I can do!

As to TP: It makes me laugh that I can't find any, but I have some and when it's gone, I'll just hop in the tub and aim the shower massager at my hind-parts....no sense getting all goofy over that, either! lol.

I just got confirmation that my order at Outdoor Limited from 3/15 has shipped.

Liberty Guns in Mullins SC had plenty of 223 and 556 this morning and a decent supply of 9mm. The only place I've been to that had any ammo.
