Graham County curfew & Lockdown?

That is far more than simply declaring a "state of emergency"...even here in the jungles of Fayette'nam we are under one and it does not include any road closures/detours, curfew, motel/hotel closures, etc...this is a raw "we are in control" power grab, aka, Tyranny.

No kidding. I almost expect it here but
certainly didn't expect to see this coming out of Appalachia, I doubt those folks are going to go down that easy.

Curious, based on a thread recently by Bailey, what sort of political leanings does your county have?
Like, pretty much a repub area (western NC, I'd assume it would be), or leans dem?

Pretty wild though

Curfew? Why? Is the virus more deadly at night?
I was thinking the same thing!

Off beat thinking here ... people with common sense take offense to this because if we do not have to go out we keep our butts at home ... but it’s the crazy idiots that get bored and want “to see (and video) what’s going on there” that ride around with no real purpose other than they’re bored or nosy. I wish Darwin’s Laws would apply more with this stuff than age and immune level.

Looking at the map, I see only about five road crossings over the county line. I know there are probably some gravel or timber roads, but they seem almost as isolated as Dare County on the Outer Banks. This does seems like the SHTF place to be. Given the conservative, self reliant, and well armed nature of the residents, it's probably more about keeping the rest of the world out vs. iron fisted tyranny against the residents.

Graham County? Must be to keep all that crap out coming over the border from Tennessee :D  And if they want to keep people out, just muster up a few of those good mountain folks.

Reminds me a bit of the Saluda County...er, thing.

Nothing like an environment where you can toss out the word emergency and assume dictatorial powers to sort out which of our so-called public servants are wannabe tyrants just under the surface.

Actually, given the unexpectedly minimally higher mortality rate than the seasonal flu, this is turning out to be a rather convenient litmus test.

I think it is to keep the rest of the world out.

It’s to keep travelers out. Same reason the tribe has shut down. To keep tourists out. Every case I’ve heard of in this region is because some jack leg TRAVELED here AFTER being exposed in their locales....

This is how illness spreads people. If you feel sick or someone you came in contact with is sick. Stay the hell homeo_O

Sometimes it's not that simple. I am feeling unwell right now, but I probably have just bad allergies and I do NOT have a fever. So even if I wanted to they would not test me.

The Harley Davidson riders took advantage of the 85 degree weather yesterday and headed to the mountains as usual. I saw a bunch. I doubt one person on a motorcycle would add much to contamination except to get gas. Certainlay they are not stopping to eat with closings.

We were issued exemptions from curfews at work today. We already have a couple facilities in areas with curfews. I’m supposed to keep the get out of jail form on me to, at, and from work. Fun times.

So the prudent thing to do would be to stay home til it passes no?

Rather than be like the dude from New York who after getting it drove down to his vacation house in Highlands. Then proceeded about town to get groceries and line up having some work done..... Or the lady who traveled from France, was diagnosed in Asheville then proceeded on her merry way to Macon county.....

Just saying. If people could not be selfish especially during this time and think about not spreading contagions to everyone else. It could all pass more quickly.

Until then expect more and more .gov types to ramp it up to 11 pre emptively...

It would be simple if the symptoms would be simple.
