I'm going on 68 and start prostate radiation Monday at Levine in Charlotte.
Finished up work today and I'm taking 3 months off.
Depending on how it goes (I feel good about it all) I may or may not go back to work.

I think I have a great team watching my back and I'm going to come out great on the other side of this little trip I'm starting.

Stay strong, good luck, and let us all know if you need anything.

Best of luck with the treatment. Was diagnosed when I was 48 (my father died from metastasis) and, given my age then and that immediate history, underwent the robotic prostatectomy.

Lots of real support (not just the warm and fuzzy kind) out there if you need it.

Glad to help, successful treatment and recovery to you.

Gonna have you on my mind, @ronn47 . I've got prostate issues but not the big C, at least, not yet.

You will be added to my list. I had surgery 3 years ago at 42, last month my PSA ticked up. I go next week for more blood work. I understand the fear your have. I continue to pray and ask God for him to pick me up and get me through whatever is before me. Please let us know how you doing.

Sending prayers.
I hope you can keep a sense of humor...it helped me get thru a lot of surgeries and chemo!
We're all here to help if you need us.
I am deeply sarcastic, so if that helps, I'll be in great shape.

I wish there were an "affirmation" or something toggle as "like" is just not always what one really wants to convey. Anyway, good luck Firemedic.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

At east it worked out to where you can take 3 months off in the summer.
Good call my friend. :)

Prayers for you sir.

Ronn47, I’ve been where you are and come out the other side good as new. Not prostate but colon cancer; had surgery, radiation and oral chemo. Not a big deal in retrospect. Free from evidence of disease for almost 10 years now. And when my company was acquired by Panasonic, I retired at about the same age as you. That was about 5 years ago, and it’s been great. If that’s what you feel like doing, go for it. Life is good!

We’re with you!

Prayers to come through. God is great and he knows everyone needs.

Be strong my friend!?
Quite a few o f us have already got this T shirt and we are still here to aggravate others. You will be glad you did this once you get to the other side!

Prayers are with you!

You WILL be fine. I had 45 straight Radiation Treatments and never missed a day of work. The last 10 or less I was kinda tired.

Also here in Charlotte. If you need anything let me know. I can bring cookies & milkshakes to the hospital, or whatever else.

I’ll readily admit I’m not aware of how it all works. Are you staying at Levine, or just going there for radiation treatments? Is the treatment program 3 months long?

I go in Monday for what is called HDR (High Dose Radiation) as an out-patient.
Then the week after I start doing 44 treatments (5 x per week, off on weekends).
Then another HDR shot.
The week long shots will be in Lancaster, 15 mins from the house.

With the C-19 running I'm OK with staying at home.
Plenty to do around here.
