Ok, quick backstory (and I'll add the video in a bit of the newscast) - I got a 3x5 flag that was flown in a F15-E over Afghanistan by the 'Dude" squad back in 2011. My buddy was in the AF and was part of AFN and did a story on the all-female squad and got them to fly a flag and sign a certificate etc.

I freaking love it!.

It's been boxed up (in the original Annin box) since I got it in 11 or 12, I forget when I saw him after that flight, and Im ready to display it.

I need to know what you folks, especially vets, recommend for displaying of the flag. I have a certificate signed by the pilot, but its 8.5x11, so it might be hard to display that with it.
So my next question - do yall ever frame certificates with a flag? Or should I contact a local trophy maker to make me a little plaque to put with the flag with the information and have the certificate safely tucked away somewhere?

Next thing _ Im guessing it needs to be folded into the triangle, correct? I want to make sure Im respecting this flag as much as I can - God bless this nation.

You can get something like this or have one made to your liking.

Is it folded?

If not, you can take it by a funeral home or the VFW...

Those folks'll be more than happy to fold it for you.

VFW, they'll enjoy doing it and pay it the proper respect.

Im not sure where a VFW is near me
There is a funeral home REALLY close to home @wsfiredude , do they all do it? I just go in and say, "can you please fold this?"?

It's unfolded at the moment so I could measure. Even when it was folded it was folded into a rectangle, not triangle

If WS in your post about Micheals is Winston-Salem try this.

Closest ones will probably be the one on S. Main in Lexington or the one on Hampton Rd. in Clemmons.

If you go to a funeral home, just speak to one of the dudes in there and ask if they can help you get the flag folded right. With it being a 3x5, two folks should be able to handle it. Were it an Interment flag, you’d need some more hands.

If I were closer, I could show you how to handle & fold the flag. Between Boy Scouts & too many funeral & flag details in the Army, I must have folded hundreds.

But yeah, take it to the VFW. They'll be tickled pink to take care of it.

Flag folding is one skill I have retained from the Boy Scouts after all these years, not sure why, it's not because I've had a lot of practice. But the wife found an old one of ours from 25 years ago in a closet a few weeks ago. I had her hold one end of it and showed her how to do it without a hitch.

Really simple, see below!

If you were near Franklin Co I would help. Used to do flag duty.

If you haven't got a case lined up yet, PM me, I can do something custom.

I picked up a triangular case this morning.
I saw the ones that had the certificate part with them, but the flag area was REALLY small on them, significantly smaller than those designed for a 3x5 flag.

Without watching the video...isn’t a basic rule to not have the flag touch anything below it, including the ground?
