Fuquay Gun and Gold to stay open during shutdown.

This could get interesting ... Clay will be okay with the Fuquay Police but I gotta wonder if King Baker will take exception to Clay’s us in the Pawnbroker card to stay open. After Baker’s crap with the WCFETC I could see him getting his panties in a wad because Clay found a way to keep his business open against the King’s orders. Hell, Cooper could even do the same with his state agents. I truly hope I’m wrong and the idiot(s) leaves Clay and FG&G alone but I would not bet on it.

Not that I am complaining but what makes a pawn shop essential?
Because of his pawn shop status, it looks like he provides loans on fire arms. This allows you to get a loan on your firearm so you have cash to buy needed essentials for you or your family.

ABC stores are partially labeled essential because alcohol withdrawal will put an addixted person into the hospital. Which is already over worked right now
Or to help combat the increase the cases of domestic violence for those that rely on alcohol to help put up their spouse ? LOL

Well, dang! They should done like me and bought enough rum and bourbon to make it through this mess without having to go back and buy more! If only I had realized TP was gonna be in short supply.

Because you can pawn your property for cash to go buy the baby a pack of Huggies and formula, While you’re out of work.

Well it’s come out Cooper will not mess with Gun shops as long as they apply the 6 foot social distancing thing. Read Page 5 FAQ about half way down ...
https://files.nc.gov/governor/documents/files/200327_FAQ-SAH-Order_FINAL.pdf
Are gun stores allowed to operate?
Gun stores implementing social distancing requirements for employees and customers as defined in the order may remain open.
So unless a gun shop’s county or municipality has enacted an order they can stay open under the state order as long as they abide by that 6 foot rule. I still wonder what King Baker will think ... try ... cause we know he’s not respectful of the rules, agreements, etc from past actions.

The county has already yanked his chain tight once with the county gun range. Hopefully they got his attention.

Man you give the idiot more credit than I do ... from statements he made about his staffing changes when he first took office, when he cut services contracts for the dentition center services, response to budget “fat” (like new SUV’s for his new hire supervisors), etc ... topped off with the WCFETC fiasco ... he doesn’t have a clue. To bad the fools the elected JP him will likely do so again.

Not trying to give him credit. Just trying not to “borrow that trouble” till it gets here. Aside from writing letters, which I have, and vote, I don’t know what else to do unless we can organize a recall vote.

Do they sell hand trucks? Because nobody should have to carry that much booze unaided.

How should we treat LGSs that close? If they are just exercising caution - recognizing that "social distancing" is a half-step measure at best - are they to be blamed? Shunned? Decried? Or do we shrug our shoulders and say that it is their business to open or close as they please.

And how should we treat them going forward after (assuming) the panic subsides?

I'm seriously concerned with these questions, and not just because my LGS shuttered in place immediately.

A lot of smaller shops don’t have the inventory to stay open. Clay sells enough volume that he will still keep getting stuff as it trickles in from the distributor. Smaller volume shops are bottom of the totem pole when everything people want is allocated. Buddy of mine with a decent sized shop closed this week because he couldn’t get enough product in to make it worth staying open.

The Rock Guns on Yadkin in Fayetteville is also going to stay open.
Apparently they do a fair bit of work for Ft Bragg, so nobody in their right mind wants to shut them down.

Jim's on Yadkin was open today as far as the pawn/gun store part, but I'm pretty sure the range part is closed....

so we passed by each other?
that's some quality social distancing to never even meet...

Not really any different than shops deciding to be closed on a Monday or Sunday. They decide their hours and seasonings for those hours. For some staying open is going to be worth it, but for others frankly lots of gunshops are places for the old guys to hang out and bs anytime the bojangles is too full. So not only is it as viable to stay open but their regulars are in more risk than average population

They're just making the best personal decision for themselves and their business.

I'd certainly not have any hard feelings for them, and would welcome their reopening.

Long lines the past few days.

I would LOVE to see the videos of Clay “dancing” with the guy. That so called reporter has to be an idiot to stir any crap inside or with FGG ... Clay can verbally make a fool out of someone with the best country boy accent and heaven help if they really want to “dance”.

FGG is also a favorite shop of many local departments and I swear at any point until the C-19 capacity limits there was always at least 1 off duty LEO shopping in the shop also. No telling who actually was standing there just waiting to step in if Clay actually needed to call in the law ... a 3 second response time could have easily occurred to trespass the idiot if things went that direction.

My kin was working the door today. I’ll get to hear a first hand account soon.

A friend has been looking for a 19 gen 5 lately and wanting to buy locally. Terrible timing right? He's called and visited most of the local shops.

He sends me a link to FG&G GB listing.
Shows 21 on hand and immediate check out option. This is current, today July 21 2020.
We both called the store today asking if they had any available in the store, we both got "no, and not sure when we'll have any."

Disclaimer is I don't know if they got a bunch in and sold out at the store recently nor am I bashing Clay.
His business to do as he wants. Thought his ammo pricing has been fair during this unprecedented time too.

Just sharing the info FWIW.

Well considering it is well over MSRP (20% over) and he is probably selling them at that price on GB and can't get that in his store he is just being a capitalist.

Oh and it will only get worse as we get closer to November especially if Trump is trailing or it is a dead heat. People will drive the prices up like crazy on ammo and guns. Throw in rolling back the covid openings in various states and prices will climb another 20% and ammo will be non-existent

Can you sell a gun on gun broker locally before a auction ends or does it have to sell on gun broker once it is reserved to be there? Honest question.

So all you have to do is email them and tell them you’re bidding on items, and they’ll let you pick it up at the store if you give them enough time to have it ready.
Just contact them via GunBroker seller communication.

Probably correct on that. I think the OP comment is that the gun if it was in his display in the store would be under $650.

How so? They are both in his store. Not like GB holds the inventory for him. Gallery of Guns is a separate inventory as it is filled directly from the distributor.

it’s like Walmart, you have the inventory that’s in the store down the street from your house, and then you have the online inventory from a distribution center. You may have product showing up in the distribution center that you can order online electronically, but it might show out of stock at the actual Walmart store.

FG&G has their inventory set up the same way. You have the actual storefront inventory, then you have the inventory that is for internet/auction sales.

Still on the same A&D books unless he has two FFL licenses and it the same safe. He could easily move it but again it is capitalism and I have no problem with him making money.

I've bought from them on GB before.
You call and make pay / pickup arrangements. The gun I purchased was ready in an hour to pick up at their main location. Guy did say they keep the GB inventory in a separate location, but very close to the gun shop and inventory was in hand and not at a distributor.

My point of the post was showing they have 21 available for a straight sale on GB yet none available to purchase outright at the store.

Like I said I have no problem with him making money. I am all for capitalism.

They were, maybe are, doing the same thing with ammo. Separate inventory with different pricing for what is in the store versus what sells online. Better pricing in the store, but it probably sells out more quickly because of that.
