Well, we as Americans do. They are being implemented to stop travel from New Orleans where the number of cases is growing rapidly. It is not clear to me if they are being setup outside New Orleans or if surrounding states are limiting travel, it seems that FL is working on travel restrictions for non residents.

This was touched on yesterday by the gov of FL, haven’t seen a specific announcement yet.

As an aside, should we have a Covid-19 subforum?

On a related note, if there was ever a reason to take the social distancing and stay at home directives seriously, New Orleans is it. Consider that from Fat Tuesday and the start of Carnival through Ash Wednesday many weeks later you had thousands thronging and frolicking in the streets in close contact. Now it’s a hotspot of disease that is getting serious.

N.O. mayor is blaming Trump for not canceling Mardi Gras...

I read the Rhode Island troopers are pulling NY plated cars over and documenting the occupants. They then get notified that they are required to quarantine for 15 days per local law. The state police are also going door to door in the coastal region looking for NewYorkers to notify of the same. https://apnews.com/5d7394c69e3607166c97308f3762f7dd

Sign at nc /sc border at carowinds going in to sc says " vistors must. Quarantine for 14 days state law " just saw that today. No other details and first i have heard of it

I'm waiting for Trump to quarantine the NYC metro area (and people were wondering what a million military reservists could do).

Cuomo can call when they get the virus under control.

A natural disaster subform makes sense. winter was mild, but next up will be hurricane season, among other things.

Well, they can’t.

Are flowers and pots essential? Are pine needles and mulch essential? How about lawn mowers?

It’s not just folks on here who recognize the blatant testing by the government to see how much power they can grab.

Sure is. I think lawn care is extremely important at scale. as we continue to lose sight of all other medical problems, mosquitos, tick and other insect borne diseases will infect hundreds of thousands, kill many thousands and have lifelong complications for thousands more. As of current, these will far exceed the COVID19 deaths to date. Throw in the fact that many of the symptoms from these insect-borne diseases overlap with The Id, it logically follows that a rise of these diseases will further compound the hospitalization capacity problem. But some county official knows better than the epidemiology and infectious disease community im sure.

We've had a couple nurses say they have been stopped, but I have yet to see a roadblock. In fact I was talking with a few Durham officers over the last few days, they do some BLS teaching for me, they all said they're not going to stop anybody unless ordered to man a checkpoint or roadblock, and so far none of them have been.

Good thing, because after young children, those having occupations with statistically younger and fit workforce ( :cough:: police, military et al) are likely the most probable asymptomatic carrier populations out there. Throw in their increased population interaction for extra bonus. If someone like me (near total isolation save for supply runs) were to be pulled over, it would be one of those "I was in contact with no one....until now. How about you?"--kinda situations, ya know..

My BIL was told by a police officer that he could not take Business 85 through Greensboro to get from Highpoint to Burlington. He was told to backtrack to the main highway to go around.

You know I was wondering about rolling with the windows down. I smoke and have the windows down 95% of the time. My luck the guy in front of me sneezes and it gets sucked right in my window.

Not to get off topic but today I was thinking if an infected person farted and I happen to catch a whiff, cold that spread the virus? Then thought hopefully his/her underwear and pants would act like a n95 mask and keep the moisture drops in.
