Not yet. My Mother in law has some other rare virus but not this one!

My cousin in MI is in ICU in a ventilator as of last night. Confirmed COVID.

61, active, healthy, no other medical issues.

No.

10,650,00 approx people in NC. 1120 positive tests as of this writing. 0.01% of the population. State claimed last week some time, 30,000 swabs, 15,000 tested, less than 800 positives at that point in time.

A number of former coworkers up in MI are out of work with severe respiratory problems waiting for their results to come back. Sucks to be facing the public up close in plague days...
Of course, a number of people that work for my current company are out of work all over every state these days...

Yes a man in the triad who had been on a cruise. He was in icu but came home today.

So, when the ambulance picked up my cousin his wife was not allowed to go with him. They didnā€™t know (wouldnā€™t say?) which hospital they were going to take him to when they left.

his wife has not been allowed to see him in the ICU. The only communication sheā€™s had was, ā€œheā€™s been intubated. Itā€™s bad.ā€

Yes, 2 docs, one who thought it was just allergies until he came down with a fever, fine in a few days; the other said he felt like he'd been hit by a train, horrible breathing problems, still recuperating. Both ends of the spectrum.

I'm very sorry to hear that, I hope for a good recovery for your cousin!

Oh Jeez! I really hope he will get better!

Thats BS. I can understand the quarantine but not the SS squirrel routine.

the impression she got was that it wasnā€™t a dodge. They honestly didnā€™t know until they were able to asses and wanted to get headed toward the city. They love a bit out in the sticks. She was called quickly with update and location.

We have a friend that has it...in TX.

Yep. My nephew in NYC has it. He's fine, has very mild flu-like symptoms. He hasn't visited since Christmas, so no chance we caught it from him.

Possibly.
My best friend's wife.
She got tested, they determined its not flu, but results not back yet for COVID19.
but she's in rough shape, apparently. Really hit hard by it physically.

She's about 35, decent health
Works up in DC for the Naval Museum

COVID-19 Case Count in North Carolina is a state website that posts daily reports cases, tested, hospitalized, and deaths.

At the bottom of the page is a hospital bed count that shows total ICU and inpatient hospital beds and the number of each empty.

Yes.
One of my SIL's.
No fever. Just thought it was another asthma episode.
Heavy chest.
Multiple other health factors.
Her niece convinced her to call her primary clinic. They told her to get to the ER immediately.
O2 was so low they admitted get and put her on a 2L O2 feed.
She didn't know what other drugs they gave her even if they told her what it was.
That was Thursday. She iis feeling much better now. But they posted a guard at her door to make sure she doesn't try leaving AMA. [emoji1]

I'm with @Chdamn on this... BS... People dying alone without their loved ones is beyond BS...

Yes, my wife's mother and cousin, both in their 70's. Mother in law never had any symptoms and was released from quarantine after 2 weeks. The cousin is being treated at home for walking pneumonia.

also, my uncle is in quarantine for exposure to somebody positive (detroit area) - he's already been through brain damage a while ago and a mighty heart attack a few years back and is still trying to shake off both things... Last I heard a few days ago he was not showing symptoms, but everybody is understandably tense.

And my work counterpart's wife has both parents in the hospital with positive tests right now.

A couple worker went home Friday with Flu like symptoms. Just spoke to him through text and heā€™s was texted but just have the regular Flu. He came back negative for the beer flu.

Just got off our weekly family Zoom meeting and heard from the cousin in NY. His wife was on the call too, and she works at Mt. Sinai hospital. They're moving all non COVID patients to other hospitals and basically making the entire facility into a giant ICU. They've had to augment the morgue with refrigerator trucks. We have not seen the worst of this.

I don't know anyone that has it.
Sorry for you guys with friends and family with it.
Stay as safe as possible.

Sister in law, she got it from a couple coming back from the Grand Canyon....first recorded case in Surry county.

edit she has the symptoms (no smell, taste, mild fever) and the doctor quarantine her so she wasnā€™t tested but he was

For those of you upset about the "no visitors" policy, I understand where you're coming from, and couldn't imagine not being able to see someone I love when they're sick or dying, but on a vent there is a much greater risk of aerosolizing viral particles. Most of these units are on lockdown and hospitals don't have the extra PPE to dress out family members. It's also a liability having family in that environment.
This is going to sound grim, but if they're bad off and on a vent, they are paralyzed and sedated. There's no communicating with them. They wont hear you, they can't respond. The only thing you're going to get out of it is the anguish of seeing them turned over face down with lines coming out of them.
I hope if I end up like that, no one I loves sees it, I'd want their last memories of me to be who I was in life, not how I died.

What he said ^^^^^
I built ICU's and spent time with family in them. They suck to build and to be in. Don't want anybody see me croak, leave me the hell alone and put a DNR tattoo on my chest.

My wifeā€™s aunt, thankfully they werenā€™t close, got it.
The story as Iā€™ve been told. She was staying at he place in Myrtle Beach, felt sick and went to the doc. They told her she had it, and to go home and quarantine herself. Two days later she spoke to her son, told him sheā€™ll be fine and was tired of feeling sick. The next morn she didnā€™t answer the phone, the son called for a wellness call and she was on the floor. Her son drove to the MB hospital from Ral and she passed yesterday before he could get there.

Iā€™ll know in about a week when the test comes back. Not me. Sisters girl friend got really sick and was tested.

One of our own on here lost their grandparent this weekend to it, just in case you didnt know when this thread started.

It's a shame

Wifey knows an 86 yr old couple who had it and recovered. She has a college classmate whose daughter and son in law have it now. Two guys on Levergun-Scoundrels have died, but I did not know them. A bishop in our diocese is in critical condition with it. Some members of our congregation have relative who have it.

My moms cousin in FL has it. 70 year old. The test just came back positive yesterday. She is doing OK so far and fingers crossed - just flu-like symptoms.
My mom and 2 aunts were on a trip to FL 2 weeks ago and had plans to visit her on 19-Mar, but cut the trip short on 17-Mar because of all the lockdowns. Drove back home to NC without having any exposure to the cousin.
It would have been a big family reunion on 19-Mar with about ten 70+ year old family members traveling in from out of state as well, but luckily they cancelled it all. If they had been exposed - my aunts, plus an aunt and uncle (who cancelled before even leaving NC) all live in a retirement home in Elon, so would have have been risky there. As it is - the aunts who traveled are required to self-quarantine in their apartment until this coming Weds. They are not happy about that, but can now see why it is necessary - what if they had seen their cousin and then come back and not quarantined, with all those older folks?
The cousin evidently got it from New Orleans. Had flown there, stayed several days for work, and flew home to FL 16-Mar.

Yes,

Floyd Cardoz, the pioneering Mumbai-born chef behind NYC restaurants Tabla and Bombay Bread Bar, died from complications related to COVID-19. He was being treated at Mountainside Medical Center in New Jersey, He was 59 at the time of his death.

My son was the managing partner of Tabla and three other NY restaurants until last October when he left to start his own business. We met Floyd at many functions in NY, he was an amazing, kind, giving person.
