They still handle domestics for restraining orders and such, also custody orders. And the Sheriff's Office is right next to the courthouse up there.
hmm sounds like suicide by Sheriff to me then. Esp since one got hit by glass, must've tried shooting up the place

thought the courts were closed in NC

They are still open for employees and are still hearing cases of high priority (certain domestic violence cases, temporary custody’s, some juvenile cases and first appearances at the jails). They are also still open to take filings from the general public.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Authorities say an active shooter situation at the Buncombe County Courthouse in downtown Asheville started Tuesday morning when shots were fired from a parked vehicle outside the courthouse.

And then in the next paragraph

Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller said in a press conference that a probation officer was walking in front of the courthouse when shots were fired from outside of a parked vehicle.

If they were fired from inside of a parked vehicle then that may be relevant. If they are fired OUTSIDE a parked vehicle then the vehicle is innocent, and the vehicle should not be perp shamed like this. I know I'm splitting hairs but that's how my girlfriend likes it, a smooth and right.

I saw that too, but lean toward thinking it was poor sentence structure/public speaking skills. I think he meant the suspect was outside the building (but inside a parked car). The gist of it seemed to be that the suspect was dead in the car after the confrontation.

Might've been trying to let people know the suspect did not gain entry into the courthouse.

Just wait until this goes on another month. With all the news people hyping meaningless numbers and death rates.
Ironically funny but true ... many thugs are actually hunkering down according to some call logs. If Somewhere, NC doesn’t have a drive-by, gang or drug related shooting, etc you make a valid point that the idiots WhoreRAL and such will have to spin up dull stories outside of the daily COVID-19 stuff for “news”.
