Buzzkilington here. But other than looking cool, why not use a straw, one time use.
This is a hammer looking for a nail.

A metal straw? Or plastic? Straws are evil and bad for the environment. Don't you watch the news? Also, how do you open a door with a straw?

I DO hope that people know that grabbing a gas pump (nozzle) dispenser handle, due to the high traffic and use, is probably the best ways to contract the virus. If you use a latex clove on you primary hand (typically right) and insert the credit card with your left and open the filler spout cover and remove the filler spout cap with your left hand, you should be safe. Most (99%) of the touch screens will respond to a latex gloved finger tip....

Might be easy to copper plate something like this, maybe just do the bottom few inches?

Got some quotes back, I could do it for $20+shipping. Not sure if their $25shipped or additional for shipping Shipping shouldn't be much, small padded envelope first class. If willing to go down in thickness of the part to somehwere between 1/8" -3/16" I could save $2-3 dollars

Plating could but it would be something that wore off over time. Once worn, it gives bacteria a place to breed. Added cost for min quality, logistics, etc.

The important part, I neglected to add. This is for copper.

Can you cut one in copper and make sure that the hook doesn’t bend in use? Might need to make the inside radius a little bigger for strength. I doubt it works if you go much thinner.

If if works I’ll take 10 at current thickness. Plan to have them laser engraved and then send to family members.

Assuming 1/4"? I agree with Jim. Check to be sure it's strong enough. Should be...

I'll take 4. Hurry up and take my money!

I'm having to buy multiple sticks to get good pricing to drive cost down. This 3d print ones do not really move while opening metal, self closing doors. I'll change those 2 radius for security. I would make a few, send them out to people and get the green light before pushing this out. I image this would add additional week lead time for them to get some data.

What is the the thickness now 1/4

There about. I asked for another quote this morning for thicker material, not that much different. This would allow me to make them 0.280-90. Cost increase of $21.50 a unit.

You guys tell me the thickness you like and I'll get on it. Payment cabe Venmo, Paypal, Check, etc.

What are your guys thoughts. 0.175 thickness for $20 or 0.280-90" for $21.50.

First time I'm customizing something for a range of audience, appreciate anyone and everyone input.

Imo the thicker the better to a point. .250 to .350 should be about perfect. Being copper .175 isnt very robust. I have 1/4 plate copper and that's the thinnest I'd go for something with longterm use like this.

I agree, the thicker the better. I like something robust that'll last forever. I'll always pay more money for a longer lasting product.

And you should bump up the price a couple bucks so you make a profit. Don't make these things for free!

.175 will be too thin IMHO, and nobody will care about a few bucks.

I only mention pricing vs thickness because of the original being $25 and wanting to stay below that.

Definitely thicker than thinner. The cost difference is minimal to the point of immaterial ..

as above: "spear chunker"?

it's spear-chuCker.
he just died.

Timothy Brown, a former NFL running back who later appeared in both the film and TV versions of “M*A*SH,” died April 4 from complications with dementia, according to reports. He was 82.
Brown, who began acting while he was still active on the field, was one of four people to star in both the movie and the TV versions of "M*A*S*H." He played an enlisted soldier in the 1970 film.
Two years later, he returned to the franchise as surgeon Oliver Harmon "Spearchucker" Jones, a neurosurgeon recruited by Dr. Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce (Alan Alda) to play on the unit's football team.
