PSA PRICE GOUGING???

Ill just pile on with the "if you weren't ready, then that's your fault" bandwagon. Anyone who has been shooting for more than a year should know that in times of crisis or national outrage over something that ammo prices and availability will skyrocket. For those who just now purchased a firearm, then I hope they are able to get at least a few boxes from somewhere just to learn how their new shooter goes bang bang.

there’s definitely a “define prepared” aspect to this. Prepared to have enough ammo to defend self (~25 rounds), defend household from some type of attack (~200 rounds) or prepared to training and compete in national 3-Gun competitions for the next 5 years (200k rounds)...

Oh, no doubt...we each have our own questions and situations to answer. But if you are only into firearms for having one beside the bed for bump in the night, then you should already have had your box of 50...if you are planning on a running gun battle with multiple reloads...then yeah, you should have had your 200+ rounds already loaded and ready to go...and so forth.

They did have Remington UMC on hand, but that isn't PMC...again, different brands come with different availabilities. And most of the other stock they have is out. They wont lower the price of a brand to compete with another store with another brand because they didn't buy it for the same price and cant restock it for the same price.

On the bright side, thanks for sharing where some 9mm is.

Exactly...the point. Perhaps getting foreign shipments is becoming more difficult which is causing foreign brands to be higher in price. Again, not gouging, just still looks like pricing based on what they have and what they can get.
Why buy foreign ammo when you can buy USA made ammo. Plus the PMC 223 is about 200 fps slower than USA ammo

I think this is a completely different topic that has nothing to do with whether or not a company is "gouging" or not.

What ever you say. You evidently did not read the post I didn't say gouging, I said prices were rediculous. If you go back and read all of my posts in this thread the only time I said the word gouging was in reference to Mace sports when he tripled his 223 prices because of a mass shooting

Its the subject of the thread...not a personal attack.

I'm sure ya'll know folks like I do. They own a half dozen firearms and only buy ammo when they are actually going to shoot. I went with my cousin to PSA back around Christmas. He bought 3 handguns and an AR Pistol. When I told him he needed a minimum of 10 mags for the "pistol" and 1K rounds of ammo I thought his head would explode! I took him aside while they were gathering up his purchase and explained to him about how things Could go. He left with 10 mags plus the 2 that came with the gun and 1K of .223 and 2K of 9mm. I'd say that today he has about half of what he bought and probably hasn't replaced it.

And this from a Paris Island grad from 1969. I woulda thought he of all people woulda had it figured out!!! Ended up at Pendleton teaching artillery.

Let me mediate here for a second...

I think you misunderstood what @B00ger was saying. He understood that your post was not about gouging, rather about made in USA vs not. And that’s why he posted his reply; this thread is about gouging, not country of origin. Hopefully that makes a little more sense.

To gouge or not to,that is the question. As said before in the thread, if you don't like the price don't buy it. If everyone buys they get rich. If nobody buys the price will come down or they go out of business. I don't need any ammo nor guns. I have plenty. If people just relax and ride out this delima we call a Virus hopefully things will go back to normal or something like we have been accustom to..And I was staying why not buy American if you can get it cheaper than what you can get from South Korea. That's all I was saying to BOOgers response.

No, I feel ya bro. And I personally prefer buying American as well. But I also consider the drivers who deliver the ammo, the stores that sell the ammo, the warehouses that store the ammo, and the retail people at times that sell it who are Americans that I am supporting when I buy foreign ammo...unless I am drop shipping it from a foreign nation.

I’ve spent some time today looking at ammo prices online, as local supplies have dried up. Not really surprised as we’ve seen these times before. Im not willing to pay the going prices, so I loaded 250 rounds of 38 special, and had a very relaxing time doing it! I swore in 2013 that I’d never be caught with my pants down again....

Maybe not related to ammo but here is what I saw today. Demand has finally risen on HVAC air purifiers which I had a hard time selling. One type was $340.00 in December when I checked. Today it is $700.00 before tax and installed. They are built in China. My local supplier had one. Amazon had one. Same as ammo with supply and demand. Customer declined the price. Just like ammo anything coming out of other countries will explode in price plus lower sales will inflate items to make up for loss sales. Ammo for me is a no go at this time. I’d love to buy more but the shelves are full and the prices don’t justify another purchase.

My tiny lgs that I like..the wife is the chp instructor and I refer the ladies to her..they had some 45acp. I asked for 4 boxes, but she told me 2 max.
I apologized because I didn't know about the 2 box max, but they like me ( go figure) and sold me 4 boxes. Still had about 12 left, and maybe if it had been the last 4 boxes I mighta only got 2.
In my travels I've been able to avoid most gouging and inconvenience, (this includes living in the Florida Keys after Hurricanes which is where gouging was invented) and I've found that it's just as good to get to know people as well as you know product.
