COVID-19 relief for student and parent loan borrowers

I just cut a fat check earlier this year to pay my last loan off.

Honestly, if they do loan forgiveness I'll be pissed because I put close to $1k a month for quite some time to get those loans to go away. Then all the Aholes that make minimum payments get loan forgiveness? Super pissed...

They are trying to buy votes by pushing for the loans to be forgiven. I would like to see the interest rate lowered to 1-2%, if the banks can borrow from the FED then the rest of us should do the same for education at the same rate.

But you have my respect. I paid back every penny, on time, too. F those freeloaders.

I can see the suspension until this is over. But forgiveness? Oh hell to the naw!! I have a ongoing fight with some family members that think ALL nurses and doctors with school debt should have it forgiven because of this.

So I should clarify, I have no problem with temporarily pausing loans, which is what this link is talking about. In this atmosphere, it makes sense and is something I am on board with.

But yea, if it morphs into something else...

My coworker (voted for Hillary, btw) sold his house in Concord and had enough money leftover to pay off about $40k worth of student loan debt he and his wife had.

He said recently, "If they forgive student loans, I'm going to be pissed!"

I went to a community college and stroked a check as I went. My has her master's degree, took us 12 years to pay it back at 7%. We finished up 10 years ago. I can sure see the glimmer I'm some people's eyes when this mentioned. I will be hot under the collar about it if it happens.

In my opinion the government shut us down so they can forgive all the payments until we are close to full strength and employment is proven. I have no student debt by the way. If you create the inability to pay you can eat it like a private business is suffering.

I’ve been paying off the hip for eight years for my two, and now they are done, so the Dems can’t buy those votes. At least not with that particular giveaway.

I did my monthly payment the other day. Wife said "wait, you still have to pay even with all this going on?"
"not for six months, but eventually. might as well just keep paying"

I don't care to have my loan forgiven. I can see taking a job with one of the perks being that they will pay off my loans... but just wiping things out for everybody? nah. lots of greedy jerks out there disagree with me though.
