This is a novel by John Camp (pen name - John Sandford). It is probably the most vicious attack on conservatives, the 2nd Amendment and people in the gun culture. In the end the protagonist, Lucas Davenport who is a politically appointed Deputy US Marshal murders one of the evil guys named Dunn. There is a so-called gun fight. Dunn is armed with a scoped Remington Model 700 in 30 Winchester Magnum which he has never fired before. Earlier in the novel Dunn can't deal with the recoil of a 308. Davenport is armed with an M4. It says the Dunn gets off "three quick shots". Remember, this is a guy that had trouble with a 308. How he gets off three quick shots with a bolt 300 WinMag is beyond me.
I have been reading Sandford/Camp for twenty years and knew he was a lefty from snide comments inserted in the texts. However, I was completely taken aback by this novel. I don't know who is influencing the guy but someone is. I know it's a novel but he has a large following most of whom I suspect are not into firearms and believe all the crap he puts forth in the book. For instance, just about every concealed carry holder he (Davenport) runs into is a fat slob plotting against the government. Ugghhhhh! I could go on and on.

Did he ever cause a distraction by:
1. Hitting a cop in the face with a bat
2. Taking the cop’s Glock
3. Ejecting the magazine and removing the top round
4. Rubber banding a match to a single 9mm round
5. Striking the match and setting the contraption on the ground
6. Escaping in the opposite direction when his IED went off

...yes, that’s exactly what happened in the book I finished over the weekend.

At one point somebody loaded a fresh 13-round magazine into their 9mm Glock...and I still haven’t figured out which model that would be. The book is several years old (an early one in the Bone Collector series), so it’s not even one of the newer models. I’m not sure what the capacity of the G43/48/etc are.

Day of Wrath, William Forstchen - I read the last few days. It was suggested here's few weeks ago, good read!

If more Americans read that book, few would be sending their kids back to public schools whenever our Lord and Savior the Governor decides they may reconvene....

Put all that crap away and git outside ta shootin!!!!!!! It's a beautiful day!!! Go shootin!!!
Why not both? A lot of weekends you'll find me out in the yard shooting and listening to gun podcasts on my peltor sport tactical 500 muffs.
And since tomorrow promises to be rainy - wife will probably be laying in bed. I may be doing some rain shooting while listening to an audiobook from the Monster Hunter series.

I got tired of dystopian TEOWTAWKI and spy thriller stuff.
I’ve gone back to reading some classics. I’m a couple hundred pages into Moby Dick now with A Brave New World on deck.

I recently read Don Quixote, that became a chore but is the basis for so much of our cultural development.

Spoiler: not everybody likes leaving a productive life of laboring and trading "up" for an easy life of leisure and luxury.

I tried reading Don Quixote several years ago and put it down about 1/3 of the way through because so many of the references were to events and people of the time that mean nothing to me.

Liberal Minnesotan...prolly wants to use Amy Klobuchar's panties as a face mask...

I'm sorry to hear it's that bad. Maybe I'll pass on this one. I believe I've read all of them except Neon Prey. I have also enjoyed the Virgil Flowers series of books. More than the Davenport stories for a few years now. Enjoyed the Kidd series as well.

I saw Imus interview him some years ago. He didn't seem excited to be there. IIRC, he had recently lost his wife, so that may have had a lot to do with it.
