I just got a call from Gander in Fayetteville to go pick up a purchase as they are closed for good at 4pm today.

Posting this in case I'm not the only one this was news to.

I guess the company is going out of business. Technically again

Me too and check out the RVs with my daughter :)

Gander was definitely over priced and not the best selections on certain things. Hard to beat the deals and availability online these days. But I still love outdoor stores and going to them . Always fun.

So now the question is are they going to change the name again haha or actually truly go out of business?
Next name might be GOING BROKEback MOUNTAIN. :D

The last time Gander in Fayetteville announced it was closing it took 2-4 months to close out all the stuff they were shipping in to "close out". The closing sale included a lot of stuff that was never in stock there. Most of the reloading stuff was put in the back and put back on the shelf after the store opened again. It worked out great for me. They put out Universal and Bullseye powder on the shelf for $14.99 a pound. I bought supposedly all they had. Went back 223 days later and the shelf was restocked at normal prices.

Gander has never been the same since Cabela's crippled them years ago. Still makes me mad/sad.

maybe Gander's new business model
is to copy the age-old furniture/rug store "Going out of Business Sale"
only to reopen at a new location or change the name of the current store.

I was just there today to pick up my pistol and they do have black powder and reload stuff left. Decent amount of shotgun ammo, .45, .380 .22 .308 and a few other various calibers still in stock.

You can still buy stuff but you have to have a pick up to get in. Maybe call the phone number on the door and ask, if someone is nice enough, they might let you buy. Not sure.

If you want to try PM me and I'll send you the managers phone number. But only call during business hours.

What is funny is an employee there told me that they are packing the store up and shipping everything up to the VA store/s as apparently they have a huge need for stock up there due to recent events.....so some locations will remain open for now I guess

Hopefully it really closes they open a nice big Gun Store......with Normal prices I should add!

This is what one of the people who manned the Winston Salem gun counter told me.

As Gander Mountain was going under some stores were bought and named Gander Outdoor, then the owner of Gander Outdoor wanted to convert his stores to mega stores so is closing down the Gander Outdoors that don't fit the model.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE BIG FLAGS!!??

just curious

:D

Is the ammo at a decent price? it rarely was before.
their website has a pistol i was looking at for $220ish. Hard to resist.

I bought two pistols at Mooresville. They had what I wanted at the right price. I shop around quite a bit when I buy. I'm not "married" to any of the retailers. Their computer did screw up my one online purchase, but in the end I got the gun on the day they promised in the beginning. I did have to spend 20 minutes on the phone. The agent was helpful and got it fixed, just took a few minutes.

Now the website lists my store as Statesville. I can understand what they are doing. Marcus was a car salesman. The real money is in those motorhomes, trailers, service and accessories. Not slim margins in a low traffic store.

No as usual it's expensive IMO. I picked up 50 fmj rds of .40 by Ammo Inc. I guess some new brand they carry for $20. I bought a box to try them. But I saw they had 100 rds of .22 (CCI mini mags) for $17 haha!
