Back in December, I sent a 2.5lb flat competition trigger back to them because the reset was gritty and unpredictable and it ultimately broke, and I had to manually reset it with my finger.

I got the repaired trigger back fairly quickly. The reset was still somewhat gritty and unpredictable (my 3.5lb is smooth and pops forward very responsively) Sometimes it would pop forward, sometimes it creeps forward, dragging as it goes, sometimes it drags halfway and pops forward the other half. It was a mess but I figured I’d give it some time and some rounds down range to iron it out.

I gave up on it a few weeks ago after several months and several hundred Valkyrie rounds and sent CMC a message through their online form which I used last time for CS help. A couple days go by so I track down a generic email, like info@cmc or something and fire off another CS request. A lady answers and forwards me to someone from their production department. He tells me to box it up and send it back with a description of what’s wrong with it. I write him back with some questions. Four days later, no reply. I’d also called and left a voicemail for him as well. I emailed the original lady and she apparently contacted him, so the next day he writes me back and tells me they can replace the trigger with whatever I want, just send it back to them and they’ll get me Taken care of within 24hrs. Forgets to send the shipping label. I ask about it and it comes two days later.

So I finally mail it back and with tracking, I see it arrives early on 4/29. I get told five days later (Monday 5/4), they’re sending it out that day (so much for 24 hours)...even without the weekend, it still missed the promised turnaround time.

The “new” trigger arrives: it’s the wrong thing. I’d requested a replacement curved 2.5lb trigger. I received a flat 3.5lb trigger.

I haven’t heard back from the email I sent out in regards to it but I’m done with CMC. Once they get me a 2.5lb trigger like I sent them, I’ll sell it. Not going to continue giving money to a company who clearly doesn’t care at all about their customers

How much do you want for the 3.5lbs flat trigger?

I had issues with a new CMC. Crappy weak reset, and it acted like it didn't want to reset. It reset at the veeeery end of it's forward travel. Had trigger freeze often.
They asked me to lube it and re-try it after some shooting. It only got worse.
I emailed them again and they took it as a return and sent me a new one, a process that was fine but did take a while.

Sold new trigger in package and never returned to CMC. I don't have the time or money to dick around with products that do not work. And I've seen too many of these with similar problems. The good ones feel pretty good though.
Just too many good choices at that price point now. Have a POF on a PCC that I have never had a problem with after many thousands of rounds on an AR15 first.
Have moved to Hiperfire on my AR's now. Haven't had any problems with those.

Man - this sucks. I have enjoyed the 2-3 CMC's I have right now. I tried a Hiperfire on my PCC build, but it kept wanting to go burst fire mode on me. Maybe I'll try a JP trigger.

That does suck. Which HP you try?

The thing I don't like about the HP is the milspec style double pin installation/retention of it. It seems it could be a problem with certain lowers and tolerance stacking.
I like drop in units for that reason.

If your CMC's work, why not stick with them?

I bought one of the 3.5 flats when they first came out.
Install it, and back to the range.
Pull trigger, click, nothing...except about 1.5 seconds later..BLAM.
Dadgum!
Send it back, takes em about 3 weeks to get it back to me. It was the one I had sent them and apparently they polished it up. It still lives in an AR15 and does ok now.

I bought another one about 2 years later and plopped it in an AR10. This one is superb, clean and crisp. They definitely had bugs which needed to be worked out because the later model is much better than the first ones. When you dry fire both rifles side-by-side the performance is noticeable.

But yeah, the customer service for me was kind of lackadaisical. "What? yeah ok send it back. Yawn."
I would've thought that a trigger that hangs up and delays firing would be a big deal, but they didn't seem to care so much. Good thing it happened to someone like me who knows to wait it out and keep the barrel thingy pointed downrange until something happens or it doesn't. Imagine a newbie pulling that rifle off target and having it go BLAM into God knows what.

I have the 24c. Same one that was doubling that day out at dprc.

I was going with CMC - but this would be my first PCC trigger from them. The two stories about them in the thread aren't the only bad stories ive heard from them lately.

I can forgive some qc errors but the customer service needs to be there.

Watch for a sale and get a POF unit.

I was gonna do the CMC 3.5lb flat trigger in my 14.5"er, but found a deal on a Geissele SSP for $170 & went that route instead. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but danged if it don't feel nice.

bummer on cmc. have a few of their triggers and have been happy. will not be buying any more after this post. hopefully the industry takes note and learns to not rest on a reputation. CMC has been around for a long time and now sounds like they are on a fast path to closing.

Ah yes, now I remember.

All the 3.5lb ones I’ve used never gave me any trouble either, to be fair
They've sold thousands of these and the feedback is highly positive. Like I say, the one in my AR10 is very good, and I applaud them for coming out with a drop-in that's very good at a great price point. They had a big impact with this thing and the market clicked with more choices from different makers.
What kind of o_O me was the cavalier way they reacted to what my first one was doing. I more expected something along the lines of 'Stop using it immediately and send it back! We'll pay for shipping!'
I dunno, I don't make triggers. Maybe this occurrence is more frequent than I'm aware of. Still though, seems like a liability nightmare.

That's a big negative.
I probably would have taken it out at the range after the first... maybe second shot. No way i'd want something like that spending more than a minute in my stable.
Even with little 22LR rifles, if it goes "click" I get real tense real fast and my mind starts screaming safety rules at me.

I don’t understand customer service of full time companies. Its not hard to help people out. As small as I am I make it a priority to answer every email, text or call. Even the people who ask for my recipe on Instagram.
Its a grassroots thing. Theres no better advertising than word of mouth

Forgive my ignorance, but receipe for what?

See my Faxon thread for how customer service should be handled. I think it's safe to say I will mark CMC off the list for future purchases. They look like the inside of a beer can anyhow.

Yup I'm out too!

Man, I hate you had trouble with CMC.
I have literally sold and installed hundreds of CMC triggers and never had 1 problem.
I even run one in my deer rifle, and in one of our training rifles.

I think they are a smaller operation because they are often out of stock through my distributors.
I work in the firearms industry and can speak first hand when I say shit is sideways with everyone right now due to the pandemic.
People have been buying everything to protect their toilet paper stockpiles, and its taking a month for me to get what used to take days from many distributors.
Some of the places I use routinely for parts and customer service are just shut down completely.
It has been really difficult for me to get customer service through several previously reliable channels.

Maybe you just got a lemon and tried to get customer service at the most inopportune time.

Man I also hate to hear about your troubles, I have 1 CMC 3 1/2 lb trigger and it’s been flawless so far, I have a POF 3 1/2 lb trigger which has been awesome except when shooting wolf or Tula .223 which yielded a few light strikes, I ran over 2k of brass cased ammo after the light strikes with the Russian ammo with zero issues, but my wife decided she wanted the POF trigger in her AR so it’s in her rifle now.
