I know this firearm gets mentioned in multiple threads, but I’m not sure it had a dedicated thread for discussion anywhere...so I’m starting one. (If one does exist, post a link and I’ll merge them).

PSA has been talking about an MP5 knockoff for quite awhile. They’re supposed to be here 4Q20. There were some at SHOT this year, described as “production models”...so the hopes were up.

One announcement in the last couple days that I thought you may find interesting is they’re releasing a 9” version first. That’s a little odd because the ones shown at SHOT were shorter. Josiah did say a shorter (maybe 5”) version would come afterwards, with no timeline given.
 
Used to want. Took so long my pocket caught fire and money went elsewhere.

With all the clones out there I'm surprised there's still a market for this. Maybe that's because it's cheap, but the gen 3 Stribog is going to eat their lunch I think.

Yup. It’s been teased for a long time and they pivoted a couple times heavily impacting the timeline.

They’ve said they’re targeting $1200 msrp, I think that alone is a big draw. Plus they have a deal with Magpul where they’re making the lower and handguard.

While there are some nice 9mm PCC options out there, none have the nostalgia of the MP5. I’ll almost certainly be buying 1, if not 2.

Im definitely waiting on this......at some point i would like a delayed blowback pcc. If not this the cmmg banshee.
 
We used the MP5 for CQB, VBSS, and GOPLAT. They had to pry it out of our hands when we switched to the Mk18 and M4. I loved that gun. Loved. It.

Source?? Is this info post 2020 SHOT?

Edit: PSA shared at SHOT 2020 that Leadstar Arms, a newly acquired sister company IIRC, had taken over the development because of their manufacturing capabilities. If Leadstar lost their main guy, PSA may indeed have some issues.

They’re still saying 4Q20, as recently as within the last week. Yes, they’ve “said” a lot of things that didn’t happen. But no mention of it being delayed again at this point.
 
I'd be surprised at a 1200$ pricepoint, no one else has gotten there yet, you'd think a clone would do it and sell them like hotcakes. Instead the clones are going for about 200 or so less than what I paid for an actual HK

Is that because people will pay it or because that's what they cost to make and turn a small profit?

Fair point, all these companies will be making profit, including PSA.
When you got a handful of companies making clones, I would THINK that one would set themselves apart by offering a lower MSRP and selling the heck out of them, vs everyone being in about the same price-range, give or take a hundred or so.

Is that a fair comparison? If my memory ain't failing me, I believe you got one at a ridiculously low price.

My clone ran me 1600 clams.

I got a deal, yes, but even not on sale it was 350ish more than your clone. I paid about 230ish more than the clone
They had them on sale and many took advantage of a good price.

Is it wrong to think it's stupid as heck when a company puts a fake FA switch on there? Like posted above, they have a switch that goes to FA, but we all know good and well it wont have that capability from them.

This. Crank them out and they work well, so use those guns to buy you time to perfect the PSA5.

If it is around $1,200, I'd get one of the shorter barrels like the top pic. But I agree, the 3rd Gen Stribog is going to be the truth.

TBH I'll take a 3rd gen stribog over a mp5 clone any day.
 
The first gen the one currently available is straight blowback, The upcoming one is delay blowback.
 
Oooh, that sounds awesome @ $800! Thanks for giving me something else to possibly add to my wishlist.

I still want an MP5 clone for the nostalgia.
 
Thanks for the heads up on that, I've been looking into delay blowback 9mms but nothing has really jumped out at me price wise until this news.

I’ve pretty much given up hope for the PSA5. If it ever does come out, great, but I’m not planning on it.

the other day the local shop had a B&T for gmh9 for just a little under 2k out the door. that barrel with threading AND a 3lug is very interesting.
i had a long debate with myself for a couple days over that one.
Just remember - prices will come back down eventually and i already have a few guns to play with

Makes sense. Would much rather see more ammo hit the market right now than a new gun I'll have to spend money on.
 
PSA had indicated at this years SHOT that the MP5 clone was put on hold for now.
The demand for AKs , AKVs , Dagger , JACKYL and now shifting resources to ammo production mean that PSA doesn’t have the resources to commit to this project at this time
