Church Services Enforcement

Indeed, that would hypothetically be true. However, in complete objective fairness, this is how Romans 13 was referenced:

It would be equally intellectually lazy to misconstrue what is clearly an open query as quoting it as an absolute command. Whatever it's intent or purpose, the question itself isn't negatively suggestive on it's face.
Agreed, and I wasn’t terribly clear in my response.
I was trying to get across that Rom13 is not an “obey government at all costs“ command, I did not mean to insinuate that the question was a statement.
The Bible is slap full of men disobeying government, for God’s purpose, from Hebrew women refusing to murder children, the a few well-known guys walking out of prison, Rahab helping “foreign” spies, etc....
My mistake, I should have taken a bit more time and not given such a short, even curt, response.

Interesting. Our Sunday school lesson today (via Zoom) in “Explore the Bible” is Romans 13.
Should be an interesting discussion.

Quoting Romans 13 as an absolute and unquestionable command to follow the edicts of government is intellectually lazy and displays a shallow understanding of the Bible as a whole and that passage in particular.

Well put.

Point of fact, most people who quote scripture in such fashion about anything are likewise displaying the shallow understanding as you describe.

Just saw on the news that some Sheriff's in NC have decided that they will NOT enforce Gov cooper's orders for worship services to be Limited to 10 people since Phase 1 has started in NC. To them I say Good Job and Bless you. So Onward Christian Soldiers !!!

To be fair, having read numerous accounts of such statements across the country, sheriff's are simply telling people that they have priorities, too, when it comes to law enforcement.

No law enforcement agency can literally enforce every law/regulation on the books 100% of the time. It's just not possible. Discretion is part of the process.

Wow! A ruling from the Federal Courts no less that we are a nation of laws, not orders. The next thing you know we'll see a ruling that the Constitution and those statutes not contradictory mean exactly what they say, nothing more and nothing less.

Naaaah. Forgive me for not holding my breath.
Let’s not get carried away, now!

I'm glad Caesar Cooperus Augustus' decree that all the world should not go to church was overturned. But somehow I wish the churches that brought the suit had just ignored him and held 00services, and dared him to do something about it. Taking him to court gives legitimacy to the idea that he has the right to "allow" me to do this or that in the first place.

Couple more things: Did you hear Cooper's Mini-Me Mandy threaten to "walk back" the Phase 1 reopening if we didn't behave? And about a month ago, Cooper was polling pretty high, like 50% t0o Dan Forest's 38%. Now more people are starting to see through the tyranny and I hope we see a shift in the polling.
