I have around 1k once fired .223 cases and need to find a way to streamline lubing them.
the case lube i have on hand is the LEE brand paste-form lube. so does anyone know of a way make application of this lube to a buttload cases easier than dobbing a small amount on each case by hand??

TIA

I’ve used alox as a bullet lube, never as a case lube. Sounds very messy to me.

if there is a case lube that they also call alox, then maybe dissolve a bit of it in some alcohol to make a spray, then spray and shake, let them dry.

I will show my ignorance here, but is the Lee alox lube a bullet lube or a case resizing lube? I suppose you could use it the same way I use Imperial sizing wax, but bulk application might be harder than with a thinner liquid you can spray. Perhaps you could put a whole bunch of the lube in a towel so you could roll around a bunch of cases in the rag to distribute the lube.

yeah, gonna go back and edit that, made a mistake. LEE case lube is a repackaged commercial, paste-form, water soluble "Deep draw Lube". benefits supposedly are that it retains it's lubrication properties when dry, and doesn't contaminate powder like some lubes.

I make a batch of lube from lanolin and alcohol.

but Hornady’s spray lube works well too.

unlike the bullet lube version, the case lube dries faster and cleans up easier from what i understand.

I currently use a homemade lanolin/alcohol mix myself.

But previously.
I diluted into alcohol to make a spray. Works pretty well for me. It seperates out of the solution after a while. Just shake before using. Still have a small spray bottle around.

What tailhunter said. Buy hornady or make your own

If I wanted to use it up I would do this. Not sure how thick it is, maybe warm/melt it to get the cloth to soak it up.

I want to start off by saying, thank you all for your input and advice. I really do appreciate it :)

Now, I think the best way to sum up what I was more directly looking for is..

I want to be able to take Lee case lube, that I have a relative abundance of on hand, and know how to quickly and easily cleanup(off) post sizing if need be (ie it comes right off with hot water and dish soap). and thin it out into a sprayable form similar to the homemade lanolin & 90%ISP mix some have mentioned. so if someone out there has successfully done so let me know how.

at this time I'm not going to buy another brand or form of lube, nor brew some up from scratch. might try that if and when my current stock of the Lee paste runs out, and i'll keep the recipes in mind.
If there is not a good way to thin this Lee case lube down to a sprayable and still effective form, I'll simply suck it up and smear 1k pieces of .223 brass by hand. the prospect is... not comfortable, but doable.

If you are doing 1000 cases, I would get the Hornady one shot and spray away. Time is your enemy with the Lee lube. The Hornady lube gets you done in 20 seconds. Myself, I had a RCBS lube pad and rolled them. Not anymore. You might not want to switch but time is money.

Get a giant plastic snack / cookie jar with screw top lid like they sell at Sam's club or costco [eat all the snacks] then clean well.

Fill 1/2 to 2/3 with cases and then add a teaspoon or so of Dillon case lube or your homebrew lanolin mix.

Shake and roll around for a couple minutes; be amazed at total lube coverage.

We just moved and I threw out my container- it was a square profile huge cookie jar. Need to hunt down another like that since I have the reloading room back up now.

I have sprays, pastes, waxes, etc and this is by far the best way for bulk rifle cases.
