Murder Beach Shootout

Fond memories of MB and NMB from 50 yrs ago We went every summer as a kid. Sad.
I never got to go to MB...I lived near Virginia Beach, I hate to think what that has turned into since I was there many decades ago!
I was listening to tales of how it used to be in MB, yesterday at B. Oaks....it's very sad indeed.

Are 4 shootings within a weeks time typical of the area in and around Myrtle Beach?

Close to 25 years ago, after my wife and I were first married, we spent several weekends there over the course of a couple years and the frequency of violence didn’t seem to be this common.

Taking back the city is going to take a leadership overhaul on the city council. My children were very young when we moved our vacations to Florida. I can still remember the fun we had staying at the Sea Mist Resort with its many activities for families.

SOP....the local CBS news station didn't even mention the other two. Don't want to scare off potential vacationers. They come once and don't come back.
The locals call these kind of shootings......a good start.

It appears to me when I was there in February this year, that North Myrtle Beach has drawn the line to not let these actions creep north. And Atlantic Beach looks like a trip back 50 years in time.

About 5-6 years ago was my last trip there. We stayed in North Myrtle and it was nightmare. Hoodlums out and about from dusk till dawn. I swore it off and have yet to see the sun rise or set there since. Now, we either fly or drive a few hours more and go to Florida to get our beach fix.

Myrtle Beach today is nowhere near the same as Myrtle Beach 25 years ago.

What the hell is wrong with people???
Seems Tim Scott needs to discuss this, as the press sees it, no one else has the ‘right’. This will not get better until folks can sit down, have an honest conversation to work towards peace and respect.

Same scenario at Daytona Beach. Thugs stop all traffic, six shot.

Two thugs approached BG & his girlfriend with a gun on them, and hoodies cinched to hide their faces. BG put 9 in the chest & one CNS for a DRT.

Even when the cops get them, the system just let's them right back out. We wouldn't want them to get the WuFlu in jail.

Even if they did get the China Man Flu they are not going to test anyone. Local sheriffs will not let them. What you think happens if they test a positive in jail? Where do inmates go for isolation? How many officers go to quarantine (all of them). Officers who brought them in? Officers who had contact with the arresting officers? Bail bondsman? Magistrates? Judges? How about the victims? Victims family? And remember you are not guilty until you have your day in court.

You hit the nail on the head there. Back in the 80's MYB was part of my sales territory. Stayed there 1-2 nights a week. There were 2 parts of town. One for the tourist and the other part for the locals. @BatteryOaksBilly and I had a long discussion recently about the local establishments we used to frequent. Its a different world now. The Pawleys Island/Litchfield Beach area seems to be the quietest and safest area now, but who knows because half the crap going on is kept out of the news.

Unfortunately this kind of stuff has been building up for a long, long time. Horry county has been known for corruption and violence for years. My wife grew up in Mullins. Her Dad was a doctor and he used to take her along on house calls (this was back in the day), but if it was in Horry county she had to stay home and he was packing his old .38. Knowing Fritz he probably had a shotgun in the car too. Now it's completely out of control. If they don't go ahead and let themselves be called racists and clean it up the big investors and people with the $$$ are going to leave.

Being a terminal optimist, on the good side maybe fewer yankees will be moving down there.

These 3 shootings were all over the local news stations this morning including a statement from the MB mayor that they were “taking swift action to protect everyone from this evil”! Apparently the action is some kind of ambassador program??? o_O

Also, there was a naked guy in the middle of the day on Hwy 17, so it truly is back to bidness as usual in da MB!

Not even close. Though 20 years ago, I hated Myrtle cause of the traffic, now because it’s Like Chicago

Nope. My son's PD says everyone works unless you test positive yourself. Doesn't matter if you have gone hands on with a positive perp or been around 100 positive prisoners.

Ill pile on with the "I hate this change has happened..." bandwagon. Growing up, we spent at least 1-2 weeks a year at Sunset Beach and the highlight of the trip was going down to Myrtle Beach. Would spend the day playing video games in the arcades, riding rides in the pavilion, and eating at all the old joints. Have a great memory of going down there in high school with a group from school and visiting the pavilion a bit out of season. Very few people, and they had one "battle boats" ride where you drove around two boats that had tennis ball cannons. The guy running the ride just let me and a few friends have at it for a long time since no one was around. Then in college heading down and having a few drinks at the Bowery with my dad. Last trip was about 6/7 years ago, did boardwalk on the beach, and it seemed fine during the day. But the pavilion area was dead.

We used to go to Myrtle Beach. Not any more. We rented a house last year in Kure Beach and enjoyed that very much. It was a bit of a drive to do anything, but very quiet where we stayed. Well worth a little inconvenience.

Get a few people together to wave a couple historical flags, that seems to set them off pretty good.

How about promote May as a month long "Redneck Festival" and insist it's all about "getting some sun" and not racist at all. Might dampen the Yankees' enthusiasm for coming too. :D

The "Redneck Riviera" would simply be embracing it's Cultural Heritage, in a fun-loving tongue-in-cheek kinda way. Totally harmless. :)

Shame, used to love going to Myrtle Beach back in the days.

Last few times I went anywhere with the family was either Charleston or Ocean Isle though. And we pack heavy just in case.

Until life in America is faced with some reality the country is headed for some hard times. In fact, I doubt that it will even be called America in 15/20 years.
When you give up land or space to people that have no regard for anyone, you lose the fight.
You lose the fight, you lose the war, you lose the war you lose the country.

My son-in-law’s bothers girlfriend was in the middle of the gunfight last week. She was 20 feet from a girl who got shot. They all ran away from the area after they determined it was gun fire. She first thought it was idiots with firecrackers. I heard her telling my daughter about it on speaker phone. She should be immune from the sounds of shots. She lives in High Point.

The county nurse does not test anyone for China Man Flu. That’s a no no here. I assume they are still seeing employees in the tent in the parking lot at the courthouse but I have not kept up with it the last two weeks. I do know they were very generous on bond reduction with no court held. Murder and rape was about all you got locked up for.

Horry Crap!!

I hate to burst everyone's bubble but it CAN be saved. Back in the early 90's when I moved to Ft. Lauderdale it was the twin of Myrtle Beach. Punks and gangs doing whatever the hell they wanted and no one did a damned thing about it. A1A was the main drag and roughly 3 miles long, shootings. rapes, assaults, you name it, it happened. Smart residents knew to avoid that area like the plague and keep their money. Kids jumping from one balcony to another resulted in numerous sidewalk splats, kids just plain getting high and thinking they can fly accounted for one about every other day. Rapes of young girls, robberies and just plain assed meanness was the order of the day AND night.
Somehow the city council got all of their balls in one bag and decided to put a stop to it. Within 3 years there wasn't a spring breaker to be found south of West Palm or north of Miami. They suddenly found other places to terrorize and to this day the small crowd that does come are well behaved, have manners and cause no problems. The cops are VERY visible and will rap your knuckles at the drop of a hat. The strip became safe for residents to walk after dark and the BS and punks disappeared. The beaches suddenly became cleaner and actually enjoyable to use.
It CAN be done, it just takes a commitment....

I can’t be done not it a society where you can’t even question a certain segment of that societies motives without having lawsuits and riots and marches and boycotts and labels and more riots and more buildings burnt and drive by shootings and beatings and flash mobs and destruction.
