Did You Go Shooting Today

Made a quick trip to the range to play with the AR-15 pistol and the 308 rifle.
The AR has flip up sight on it and shot from 25, 35 and 50 yards. The X marks are at 25, the circle was at 35 and the x with a circle was at 50 yards. All of those shots were aiming at center of target. The shots that are not marked was also at 50 yards but aiming at the bottom of the target. Looks to be about 6" high at 50. Never played around with adjusting the elevation on the flip-up sight. If they are mil-spec sights, how much would I need to get the POI down 6" at 50 yards.
Go to the 500 yard range and setup, get my phone an look for my BC app. When I reset the phone I lost it. Only shot 20 rounds but was able to hit steel between 200 and 500 yards but not like I was hitting. I used Bullet Flight app but downloaded the Strelok basic app.

What app do you prefer?

Made a trip with the full intention of zeroing the RIA 10mm 1911, tweaking the Commando pistols Aimpoint zero, and experimenting with the retro AR10.
The attendant crowd that showed up after I got there changed my mind about a long stay.
I got a good start on zeroing the 10mm at 15 yards. But since I only took fifty rounds, I got working zero that had me hitting metal at 25 yards

Did not go to the range, but the wife and I did go in the back yard and shoot a few primer powered wax bullets at a milk jug. Most of them put a good dent in the plastic, but one did make it all the way through.

@Toprudder When I was in college and into the early 80's I had the Speer plastic (Red & Blue) bullets that shot out of a 38/357. I would not want to be hit by one. It went through a magazine and put a 1/4" dent in a dresser.

Ran a flat range firing foreign weapons (M44 Nagant, RPD, AK47, vz58) and pistol for troops this morning. This afternoon another 9000 rds of 7.62mm out of the Minigun and 1200 rds out of a M249 SAW. Conducted some side magazine firing. 2 mags of each USGI generation. Ammo used in mags were all M885A1 EPR Ball, weapon lubed with Lubricate Small Arms. Not a single issue with the minigun.
2x20 rd 1971 contracted-no issues
2x30 rd 1988 contracted black follower-no issues
2x30 rd late 90s green follower-no issues
20"barrel change
2x30 rd 2008 era tan follower-no issues
2x30 rd Enhanced with blue follower-no issues
2x30 rd FN SCAR L (steel body) Two failures to feed each mag
2x30 rd MagPull PMag FDE Window Gen 3- no issues
20" barrel change
100rd belt in nut sack, 4 M885 (green tip)/1 M856 tracer-no issues

Troops then went to 4x200rd belts of 4 M885 (green tip)/1 M856 tracer without me and started having issues? Barrel swapped every 200 rds. End of day 16" bbl went back on. That's 18,000 rds of 7.62x51 in 2 firing days. That's over 1200 lbs of linked 7.62! Still have another 9,000 rds to burn. (rate of fire 50 rds sec/3000 rpm)

Went to enc this morning with a few friends before public access. Much ballistic enjoyment was had and many mags emptied.

Forgot my 3x magnifier so did not get a better zero on the 45 Banshee, but was able to get hits on a steel silhouette @100 yards the resulting ding sounded more like a bell with that 230 grain pills.

Got the stribog zeroed at 25 yards but again no magnifier :( But, I watched a MAC video on it and sure enough the 30 round mags actually hold 32 rounds, not only that but I think I might like this almost as much as my Scorpion SBR.

Shot a friends New STI stacatto, very, very nice, grips were perfect.

Buddy of mine zeroed The Bren 7.62, the scope is the ACSS with BDC for 7.62 or 300, supersonic are zeroed at the tip of the chevron, Brown Bear subs are coming in @ the 200 line, pretty cool.

I have the trijicon on my x95 it is overkill but it is a laser at 100yds, need to move it to something else.

The arx100 with the OSS 556 Helix, not a even the smallest whiff of gas, even with the enormous ejection port, buddy was watching said all the gas was being propelled out of the front of the suppressor. (I have the 7.62 Helix in bound shortly, I need to get a couple more of these).

I found out today that My rhino does not like ejecting the Wolf steel cased 38 SPC, I had to tap on the ejector on the table to get it to get them out. I guess I will need to get some brass cased ones.

Q5 match iron sights were off target, what's a good typical zero distance for pistol??? 25 yards???

Kel-Tec CP33, Only have 2 mags and one was flawless with out suppressor the other the rounds were hanging up in the mag body. I am going to disassemble and clean and see it that helps. What lube to use for mags, dry or wet ???

Kelly and I went to PHA today. Took a few pistols, and a 15-22 with a Red/Green Dot on it. She was shooting the song "twinkle twinkle little star" on the steel there with the little M&P. All in all, a great day.

Went down to Buccaneer so my son could shoot and zero his new subgun in 9mm, then my dad’s Colt 1911, and discovered I put in way too heavy a recoil spring in the Springfield Ronin 1911. Got some more ordered from Wolff to see if I can get this thing dialed in.

Yesterday at Battery Oaks I tried some 100+ yard steel with my RIA 9mm. I did hit a little teeny square, once.

That was my only burst of brilliance for the day. I'm good with that. Last year about this time I couldn't hit a 2/3 human sized steel target at 100 yards with the same gun....so I'm real slow, but I did make progress.

I also learned that 9mm is still climbing at 100 yards. (I'm pretty sure I heard that.) I had no idea. Every time I go there, I learn something interesting about something!

I was able to outlast the rain and got to shoot about 30 rounds from a M70 30/06 and about the same from a 9mm H&K. I also shot about 40 gallons of Roundup out of a hand held nozzle rigged up to my tractor sprayer onto some overgrown ditches. I did not get down into the woods to work on food plots because the woods are real wet.

Well, yesterday....took a nap before posting.
Shot about 50 rounds in the RIA with 4 of the "usual" issues. A lot.
Then about 50 rounds in the CZ with an issue I can't name, as all I saw was the gun not shooting, the slide was closed, and hard to pull back, and a round falling out when I did manage to rack it back...very odd.
But I got to go to the range.....yay!

I changed out my night stand gun from a PPQ to a Glock 19 (Glock is about 3 years old and maybe have 100 rounds through it) because of my PCC under the bed uses the Glock magazines.

A few months ago I replaced the barrel in the 19 with a threaded barrel and wanted to see which barrel shot better. Grabbed 100 rounds and only took the Glock. After shooting the threaded barrel (everything low at 15 yards) I put the Glock barrel in and was still low but a much better group. When taking out the threaded barrel noticed that the thread protector was not tight. That might have something to do with the grouping. ?????
What I did learn is that anything under 25 yards I am shooting ALL my handguns low. There was some broken clays on the berm at 25 yards and with hitting them about 85% of the time. The other 15% of the time I was within a couple of inches. Do not know if it has to do with the progressive glasses that I wear.

Glock makes two front sight heights 4.1mm and 4.9mm. Each front sight change represents aprox 4.7 in (120mm) difference in bullet impact at 27 yds (25m).
Also there are 4 different Glock rear sight heights 6.1mm (dash/dot on right rear of sight), 6.5mm (dash), 6.9mm (dot/dash) and 7.3mm (dot/dot/dash) Each rear sight height change represents approx. 2.4 in (61mm) difference at 27 yds/25 m.

CD, you should write a pictorial history book of the guns you see in that region of the world. I'd sure buy it.

Took yet another guy to the range today. (sigh)

We shot about 50 rounds in the 1911 9mm, 25 in the Sig p238, 30 in the FireFly, and 25 in the 1911 .45......it was so hot, we didn't get to the CZ. All were shot at 5 yards. (I think the .22 doesn't like Aguila ammo.)
He tossed the targets. I did my .45 shooting one-handed and the groups were teacup-saucer sized, not too bad. Need more practice.

Had run of the range this morning, refined zero on CMMG, Stribog and the Bren 2MS. Put the OSS Helix on Bren 2 MS 556. Also used OSS on the x95 and shot bowling pins .

Yep. Some good some bad.

Buckmark quick shooting function test. I like it. A lot.

Mostly left except when I used the bench for a rest. Sights are good. I am not. But haven’t shot in a while so all is not lost.

Glock 43x. Low and left. Way low. Going to have someone else shoot it, but wondering about a smaller front sight for this one. Big difference between it and the 19x. Either need a new sight, more time behind it or a new CZ. :D
