I am the senior Gunsmith at ProShots, a Gunsmithing Instructor at MCC, and the Trainer/Advisor/Armorer for the NC Zoological Park's Lethal Response Team, have a degree as a gunsmith, and many other industry certifications I don't intend to list.

Accepting mail-in or FTF night sight installations at my shop at home for a little side money.
Though I am able to do most any type of work or finishing, sights will allow me to easily ship without having to worry about the serialized firearm being involved.
(AKA slide only)

I do keep a decent selection of night sights at work, but am willing to special order sights as well.
Please DM me with your model and desired sights, and I will give you an out the door quote.
I will try to price match sights for you guys and save you some money on shipping by getting it in my batch orders, but if you want sights from "NoName Tactical" I will not be able to get them through my distributors.
I can get Trijicon, Meprolite, Trueglo, HiViz, etc.

For most night sights installation its $40 if I provided the sights, $55 otherwise.
For some that require additional fitting, staking, etc such as the 1911 it is $60 if I provide the sights $75 otherwise.

Assuming I have the parts in hand, I should be able to complete work orders anywhere from day of receiving them, to a few days depending on my schedule.
Currently using Square for invoices and can run cards remotely.
Cheers!

you rock! Good luck with the gig!

I'd like to get a new sight on my Ruger SP101, but it's a revolver, so can't send it in.
Well if you ever find yourself near Winston Salem I can hook you up at ProShots.

Looking into the logistics of a home FFL so I can receive entire firearms.
That would really broaden the scope of what I could offer.

Thanks for the feedback!
I have a lot of guns come in with damaged sights and slides, so I figured maybe it would be of value here.
Nothing magical about the process, but if someone doesn't have popper dovetail files/sight pusher and is doing it for the first time I get why they have issues.

We make students hand cut dovetails on round stock, and they usually look like a flute before they get 1 of the 20 dovetails good enough to grade. lol

Home based FFLs are harder to get. You have to show you are in it for a business and to make money. You will need a special occupancy permit from your local permitting office allowing you to have a home based business. You will need a federal tax number and a state sales tax account. Then fill out the paperwork and submit it.

In all honesty I have been doing it for almost 10 years and it is a lot of work for little profit. Unless you are running a big shop I am not sure it is worth it. The documentation alone is huge and if you screw up you can go to jail.
