Ive been seeing and hearing this more and more. As violence hits closer to home, those who are otherwise 2A indifferent, or fence sitters, take a step to the 2A side by deciding they need the ability and tools to defend themselves if the violence comes to their front door.

Last night a HS acquaintance from NJ watched & live streamed from his Center City (aka downtown) Philly apartment as rioters broke into, looted, and began destroying a Dunkin Donuts immediately across the street. The police did arrive to secure that intersection but it was over 20min.

They broke the windows with bats and a shopping cart. A couple cars pulled up to load stuff up then took off. A man could be seen carrying a ~60” TV down the street, cord dragging almost as badly as his pants.

This was his post from last night.

To my surprise, the overwhelming majority of comments were supportive, with no dissenters, only a few including his mom being neutral.

I simply reminded him to be sure to go to the range regularly to practice, and I think this is one of the best things to do for new gun owners.

Have you guys been seeing some of the same?

Can he buy a gun this week in NJ ? Will the “laws” he and others didnt pay any attention to while being forced upon get in their way? How many rounds are now being realized is a necessity instead of a want?

And the biggie.... did ya say, I told you so.. yet

No, not for me or my friends that are almost exclusively “local”...I don’t know anyone personally in a big city. If the area I live in becomes directly impacted (like people demonstrating on my street), then they are lost and places like NYC will have likely been burned to the ground!

Thankfully for him, he lives in PA. I added the NJ note since we’re both from there. In NJ it would take him at least 6mo. In PA they don’t have purchase permits or firearms licenses afaik.

Thankfully for him, yes. This current crap show around the country should be a huge eye opener for a lot of the folks that were clamoring for these asinine gun laws to be implemented to now be removed/stricken from the books and to reinforce the 2a as written in the constitution.

I found it amusing when I was f lipping through channels last night some heathen in a black hoodie that was tied snugly around his face was screaming illegibly at a news camera that "y'all just wait till we come to the suburbs". This might mean something in the NY/NJ/MD/ST corridor, but they will be in for a surprise when they get into flyover country.

He might be surprised at the process involved. As have many. Can't just walk in a buy one off the shelf, despite what media says.

I live in a very rural area. "Rioting" will never make it this far out and there aren't any businesses to steal from out here; because that's what this is really about, an excuse to get free shlt. Protesting and looting are two very different animals.

I’m a pretty poor shot...but willing to bet I’m plenty good enough. Any idea how I can send him my address?

Me too. Hell. Sherman wasn't even interested.

Flyover country suburbs would be an interesting proposition for him. I know some heavily armed people in the N.C. suburbs.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they decide to move from riots in the city to terrorizing motorists and suburban neighborhoods. It’ll probably take a couple more incidents but a possibility.

I hope as many wake up as possible.Hopefully it won't be too late. The real question is will they vote any differently next couple of times around?

Edit: At that distance a scope wouldn't be fair.o_O

That would be fun for sure!

Out in my neck of the woods it would be safe for the neighbors too.

I may need to revamp my normal car loadout.

What are the laws for keeping a bag in the car/truck?

AR/AK pistol ftw ;), assuming you have a CHP. Obviously there are concerns around smash and grab thefts so weigh that and take appropriate action.

You can borrow my newest one...

If you don’t hit him, the concussion should do the job. Then you finish him when he’s in the fetal position. :D

Yeah since buying a golf cart I have mentally notated that there is at least a 35 gun safe in every other house in my neighborhood. I have also seen several of the REALLY big ones in garages and made new friends. Lots of trump signs as well.

I live in the suburbs. They might be shocked at what my ex military neighbor and I could bring to that fight if they did decide to come here....

Funny, I also make a mental note of the Trump stickers on tool boxes and garage fridges while walking my dogs around the neighborhood.

Well, there's this neighborhood in Brunswick, GA...

Sorry, you lost me...
The Arbery shooting was in a suburban neighborhood in Brunswick, GA. Just joking about armed suburban areas.

I believe FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) is in Brunswick.

Today I couple came by the table and talked about it being their first gun show. We chatted a while and while I didnt delve into their thoughts on guns, they said they were pleasantly surprised by what a gun show was like. They expected a very different place, almost like the media had portrayed to them a dank place full of shady deals or something...

There have been, and were, lots of talk from gun shops and people in and patrons of stores which sell guns and how many were/are getting sold because people feel that need to be able to protect themselves.

Good on your boy @Jerzsubbie , try to steer him right in his decisions

Want to do a drive by on a circle court with only one way in/out and a whole lot of armed people that moved there SPECIFICALLY because they didn't want to be around that kind of nonsense?
In every one of these riots, some bright bulb decides to threaten the suburbs. Yet deep down they know that it would NOT go over well...

Just got a text from an old boss who bought a new DD AR pistol today. Middle aged guy, stereotypical collection of high end and family shotguns that get fired very rarely, lives in a very nice part of town, and bought an AR “just in case, you never know.”

This quiet (not touched by MSM) move of average Joes buying guns given the current events really intrigues me and gives me hope for how things will turn out in November.

Everybody I hang out with already has guns. Nobody I don't see often has asked me anything about guns.

I took a biking friend about a month ago to try out some different handguns. He has done all of his paperwork for Permit and is just playing the waiting game now.
I did the same thing with a husband and wife duo last Friday. She had never shot a handgun and it had been probably 15 years since he had. They did very well considering.

One of the folks I know who is ambivalent to the 2A is now looking for a home defense gun. I find it amusing that he can't find anything on the shelves or in the dealer pipeline at this time. My comment to him- should have taken care of business while the sun was shining, not when the storm clouds are gathering.

Now that Gun Shows have started up again, has he considered the Gun Show Loophole? :D

I've been educating him on the possibility of private purchase. He even asked if I would sell him something out of my safe. Being an old fart, I told him my gun safe is like a roach motel from the Raid commercial, guns check in but they don't check out.

If he joined the forum, he’d find plenty of worthy handguns for sale. ;)

Have had a hankerin’ for a Glock 45/45mos but I’ll be danged if you can find one anywhere.

Wish they’d flip the switch on this thing or just lay down. I need my availability back.

Dave, do not be happy that a person cant buy a gun now. I know you wish more had been into guns sooner, but it's just how it goes.
Be happy he WANTS one and is actively looking, not that he cant buy one and defend himself/family/property

There is a difference between being amused and happy. I also find it amusing that the same people who asked 'why do you need' are the ones looking to aquire. I sure am not dancing on their experience in trying to gain protection.

I have a few on my street that have asked how to buy something now. My answer is not as easily as you were told. They respond with 'well just go to your house'.

Yup. Have a really close friend that lives in Greensboro. He enjoyed shooting when I took him 10+ years ago, but remained terrified of them without supervision. Now he's taking a basic handgun class, a conceal carry class, and buying a gun. He didn't hate guns previously mind you, but he didn't want to own one. I've already got a gun for him, just waiting on him to get a purchase permit.

Another person I know in Greensboro...a customer of mine...she admittedly hated guns. Now she's thinking about buying one due to the riots that happened in Gboro.

I wonder whether Democrat candidates will change their anti-2A rhetoric in order to not lose votes in November.
