What did you do in the reloading room today?

Broke Dillon springs...so...have to wait on the mail man to load more.

Did my first reloads today. 26 XTP and 21 115 gr rn. Now to buy a bullet puller for the ones I screwed up. Thank you so much @Average Joe for all the help. Some great members here in the forum.
Edit: The one in the middle is my first...will be saving that one lol.

Ha....not in the reloading room but related. Had my surgery and was feeling pretty good. Since the surgery center was in Pinehurst my wife double checked my "level of good" and then surprised me by going at Ed's gun shop as we had to pass by as we were going home.

Left with 2,000 CCI 500 primers.....funny, was good and then I got home...nappy time.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. I just started about 4 months ago. I saved the first round I loaded too. :)

According to my load data, I did something today that I have not done in 6 years - I loaded some 30 carbine.

I had a small bag of 115gn coated bullets from Bayou that has been sitting in my shop for years now, decided to work up some loads to test, using N-110 powder. Need to show some love to the old carbine.

Do u get Dillon Blue Press magazine/catalog? Mine came yesterday and there is an article on 30 carbine reloading.

I have not gotten my magazine as of right now but look forward to seeing the article about 30 Carbine. Are lead/coated bullets OK to use in a Carbine? Does lead get stripped off the bullet as it passes the gas hole and clog up the system? I have some lead bullets that I use in my Blackhawk but have hesitated to use them in my rifles.

edit: As far as what I did in my reloading room is concerned, I finished up loading about 400 223 rounds and gathering together most of the 223 ammo I have here at my home. I then consolidated and loaded as many AR magazines as I could find. I found some I had forgotten I had. I think I will play with 45 Auto ammo and magazines this afternoon. I hope my poor old back is up to it.

Have not seen it yet, it may be in the mailbox waiting for me. Now that you mention the Dillon article, I think I will dig out my copy of Ken Waters "Pet Loads" and see if he has anything in there. His articles are always a good read, even if dated.

I talked to someone at Bayou about their coated bullets, and was told no problems pushing them to normal velocities. I will find out. I got the load data from Lyman #50 for 115gn lead bullets, which are loaded to lower velocity than 110 FMJ. I just hope they cycle.

Ran 100 cases of 65cm though the FART and then trimmed about 200 with the Little Crow worlds finest trimmer. Will load them later in the week.

Got my 429 DE barrel delivered to my door today, so it lit a small fire under my butt. Went out in the shack and formed 50 pieces of 50AE brass into 429DE. Trimmed, chamfered, yada yada yada. (Pisses me off the Starline makes the 429 brass for factory ammo, but does not have it available to reloaders). Not a SAAMI cartridge, so nobody makes a case gauge, so I had to use my barrel to determine headspace from the shoulder.

No load data exists that I can find, so I am going by some obscure data somebody pointed me to for 440 Corbon, which is almost identical to 429DE. Start low and work up. Wish me luck.

SCREWED UP

I was going to reload about 50 - 308 150 grn Speer Grand Slam bullets. Make sure the case length was correct, double and triple checked the power and charge. Got the OAL length right where I wanted it and off I go. Got them loaded and checked about every 10th one in the gauge.
Go to label the box with the recipe and look at the Speer Grand Slam 189 grn bullets. I sat there shaking my head how did I do this? Started looking at other 168 grn bullet recipes and none used H335 and all were about 100 ft/sec slower.
Got the RCBS collet puller and undid my master pieces.

i will wait until Thursday to reload them.

Since we are moving part time to the lake which is in the middle of the woods. It is a neighbor in the woods and there are all type of snakes around the hood. We see a bunch on them on the road the few times that we have been there. When the previous owners was showing me the dock house he said open the door slowly. Never know if there is a snake in there. I have no idea if he was kidding me. So, I loaded 50 rounds of 44 Special snake shot.
Used 6.8 grns of Unique, then placed a paper wad and packed down with a dowel rod. Filled the rest of the space with #9 shot. Took a screw driver and scraped off enough to get another wad on to of the shot. Then packed it back down and sealed it with a glue gun. Cleaned up the outside of the case and ran it through the crimping die.
