Dramatic video from a Saturday night protest in downtown Seattle showed a news station’s security guard disarming a masked protester carrying an AR-15 assault rifle and ripping the magazine from it, averting a potentially fatal interaction in an already tense and violent atmosphere. KOMO News, the Seattle station which recorded the footage, pulled away after the confrontation. Reporter Brandi Kruse with local station Q13Fox tweeted that the protester had taken the rifle from an abandoned police car with broken windows and fired it into nearby vehicles. Kruse’s security guard apprehended the demonstrator and one other with a Seattle Police Department gun before turning the weapons over to police. No one was hurt, according to Kruse. Protests across the country over the death of George Floyd escalated Saturday night, often resulting in violent clashes with the police. Seattle’s mayor had declared a 5 p.m. curfew

So it's OK for the news staton to protect itself with an AR 15 and handgun? I wonder how they fell about their employees ability to own those? Scanning through their site they might be center to center right but it's hard to tell.

Glad the guy got the AR back

he could have just disarmed the best chance they had at keeping the peace...
or maybe they were decent people just trying to collect the gun so no bad guys got it but the news guy brandished and threatened to kill them for doing that bit of public service just because they were black.
I see some tough questions being asked if somebody wants to play it right.

EDIT - i zoomed in and they don't appear to be black. changes nothing. guy with the rifle wasn't brandishing and didn't appear to be doing anything dangerous. no reason to put a pistol in his face and rip it out of his hands.

Did you read the article? It said the guy was firing the stolen rifle into vehicles:rolleyes:

Can't find it now but I had read he had shot into some cars. Also read no shot were fired, but that seemed to be related to the disarming. Probably saw that on twitter, so take it for what it's worth. He didn't seem to know what he was doing with that AR so I'm voting unlikely on "best chance at keeping peace."

So you are saying the guy was white? So another white liberal moving into an urban area to help destroy a community he probably does not have to live in? I would not be surprised at all about that. ;)

One guy holding a rifle. Man approaches with rifle slung, pistol drawn (makes me think he is versed in threat assessment). Physically takes rifle with sidearm trained on potential threat. Assesses group reaction with sidearm at low ready. When they disperse, holsters sidearm and unloads/makes safe rifle he just procured.

I have no idea the full situation. But in that 18 second video. I see a man with training/knowledge using it to disarm someone else. The

I feel if the masked moron was a true threat. He would have been “immobilized” then disarmed.

if the dummy stole the rifle and was firing he’s damn lucky to be walking away at all. The story made it seem like the security guy recovered both of the ARs, not that he went out with them. Once again, it’s the indian...
 
Here's a full interview with the guy. At the end he comments on the nature of the protest/riot.

Missed that part. Was focused on the "no shots fired".
I retract my statement and sort of wish the guard would have taught him the hard way how bullets work
