God And Guns

I thought you meant these guys

or these guys

or maybe even this guy

I wonder if they have any of the Holy Hand Grenades mentioned in Monty Python?

edit: I would question the advice to shoot the person entering the church with a firearm before he makes any aggressive movements. Just carrying a firearm should not get you shot. All bets are off, however, if you start threatening people with it.

You must recite the words properly first...sorry, can’t find one that’s bigger.

I’ve known many folk that carry in church for decades. Including ladies that you’d never expect. And there’s this guy

The only reason our pastor wears a suit coat to church is to conceal his pistol. We have a small church, but the percentage of people who carry is extremely high. Including several of the ladies. In fact, the women's group did CHP training and some shooting training together several years ago.

Entering a church, while open carrying a rifle or a pistol in hand, should get you drawn down on with immediate, loud orders to "drop the weapon!" and if compliance is slow you might get shot. Certainly, if the rifle or pistol is raised instead of dropped, that would get you shot.

Open carrying a holstered pistol would not be welcome in a lot of churches, whether by a stranger or a member. That kind of distraction would melt all of the snowflakes!

I am not sure I agree with the slow compliance bit or even drawing down on him if a firearm is seen. Having an open firearm is, in itself, not a threat from my point of view. Is the person justified in shooting you if he orders you to drop your firearm and you do not? Is he justified in shooting you if you point your firearm at him? What legal authority do you have over him that he does not have over you?

Concealed carry isn't welcome in some churches. :( Ask me how I know.

You absolutely sure there ain't one in the pipe?? Some of mine won't fire(at least they ain't supposed to) with out a mag, but some of them will. :D
Just ask the dude from Tiger King.

That empty gun ain't gonna be much help;)

Since you apparently haven’t bought any Glocks lately, Billy was grasping at straws. :D

Those are excellent points. I like the last sentence in particular. I don't like the second sentence. Having an open firearm in most churches certainly is a threat. Kinda like walking into an airport with a bomb vest. Sure, while he is only open carrying, and until he actually assaults or threatens someone, he is within the law. I don't think it is a good idea wait for him to cross the line before insisting that he put down his weapon.

So, I suppose the legal way to walk this tight rope is to figure, if his gun is in his hand, mine is in my hand. If he raises his muzzle, I raise mine. If his finger is on the trigger, my finger is on the trigger. I would hope that while talking to him, his intent can be discerned, before he does something bad.
