Yall remember Paul Harvey? Yeah, yall know yall liked "The Rest of the Story."
Well I'll tell you who else liked Paul Harvey - Mike Rowe.
Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs fame.
So he decided to continue the legacy left behind and wrote a book (apparently has a podcast too), The Way I Heard It.
He's a great writer, really good stuff. And funny.
Id wager there's about 20 stories in there, short, about 2 pages or so each about people youve heard of, but maybe stories you've not.
And then, following each of those, is a personal story from Mike. He's hilarious. You hear about the people he knows/met, how he got started, why he does what he does.
Now, this isnt an ordinary biography, each of HIS stories sort of lines up with a story he just told.
As I said earlier, about 20 stories, give or take, and two of them I could figure out before the end. And a bunch will give a hint or two near the end to help you get it, but many I was totally twisted by the ending.
Im one of those that gets legit bummed out when I finish a good book - and i was bummed out yesterday when I wrapped up this one. I wanted more, he did well.
I hope he does another, if so it'll still be years away, but I'll buy it as soon a it drops. And you should to.
Good guy who works for a good reason, and some dang good stories along the way that'll make you smile.
