Local Lowes employee is taking this mask thing seriously.

Maybe he survives China Man Flu but he ain’t surviving that massive heart attack for being that heavy. Or maybe that mask keeps him from grazing heavily.

Really tempted to buy/carry one of these:

Plus, an added benefit:

Q: "Why do you carry? What are you afraid of?"
A: "Well, this way I'm ready for when that snake head pops out of my stomach."

Today at LIDL a guy was asking people if they had a mask and offering one if you didn’t. I said I didn’t need one and walked thru the store like normal. No one made a fuss and nothing was said. There were probably 3 other dudes doing he same as me.

we went to CVS in Advance yesterday to get our passport pictures for our SBRs, CVS has "Mask required" signs on the door, i got my pictures but the manager said i had to put a mask on if i wanted to stay in the store and that it's "state law" , i said i don't have to wear a mask and the governor is a dumbass and walked out, she didn't seem too happy, we won't be patrons of that CVS anymore

Walmart in Thomasville, I strolled in and was asked if I had a mask? I told him nope and kept walking, he said you know there is a new state law that requires one. I never looked back, probably 75% had them on.
Incorrect...no law..just a executive order from king cooper.....which is pretty useless just like him

A mask offers little protection for the wearer.

It is more about protection for the others around you when you can’t stay away from others. I wear a mask out of respect for others. It is all about respect.

Does it suck? Hell ya!

But, I will do it anyway because, right now, it is the thing to do.

Exactly, most people don’t even know how laws are passed...they think governors are kings.

but when there's only my wife and the other employees in the store and maybe 3 other customers not even near you, i'm not doing it especially if it's not a real law

I’m not to sure that man, based on his appearance indication of fitness level, should be wearing a respirator ... especially for an extended time working. His level of obesity can lead to respiratory problems and wearing even a half face respirator can lead to problems.

While I feel you are attempting to be respectful and helpful, I respectfully would like to inform you that you are misinformed and have a false sense of security.

It's like trying to stop a fire ant with a chain link fence....about the best analogy I can come up with. The holes in a chain link fence are obviously big enough to allow an ant to go thru.
Same goes with a mask..they don't filter down to the size of the covid 19 particle size..which is about .125 mircons I believe.
So if a mask filters down to 1 micron.... obviously .125 microns is smaller and will be able to penetrate the mask.

Interesting what one finds by reading the entire article...

The researchers acknowledged that the study didn't examine actual transmission of COVID-19 illness nor whether the masks "shorten the travel distance of droplets during coughing."

Whether face masks decrease transmission from asymptomatic individuals with COVID-19 or those who are not coughing needs further study, they added.

I am trying to be respectful and helpful.

I have no illusions about the efficacy of wearing a mask especially if your fingers are constantly up your nose or in your butt crack. [emoji23]

I’m not saying a mask will totally prevent the spread BUT it can help slow it down. And that is what all of us should be trying to accomplish. To say otherwise is incorrect.

I will do my part as best I can. The rest of you should do whatever you feel is the right thing to do.

i have no problem if someone asks me politely to put one on, but if they DEMAND i wear one or try to force me to do it, no, so far no one has nicely asked me to wear one, so i haven't

i have to add that i don't go out of the house a lot and i am not in constant contact with people, i use drive-thru's, contactless delivery, etc so it's not like i don't care; i stay home if i don't need to go anywhere. except the range.

Have seen hundreds to thousands of positive patients in the 2 ERs I work in. Unless we are intubating or in close contact (face to face) we have worn surgical masks from the beginning. In the 2 ERs, NOT A SINGLE STAFF MEMBER has gotten sick, so take it for what it's worth. I wear one anytime I go into a public place for my protection, my family's protection, the general public's protection and that it's the right thing to do in my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

i had to go to the ER a few weeks ago, in the thick of the virus, to get an emergency shot and they didn't make me wear a mask, is there a reason that could be? i'm seriously asking

Not trying to steal the thread........but you can do the 2x2 head photo with your phone and some basic photo editing.......fo free!

EVERY person who enters the ERs I work in CAN NOT get past security without wearing a mask and will be escorted off the property if they don't wear it after entering. Even EMS patients get a mask on their face before coming through the bay doors. Is the standard of care in the groups that I work for. So that surprises me. We had patients wearing them long before staff had to.

i obviously would have wore it if they gave it to me, but i couldn't even ask for it because of my disorder and they didn't let my wife back she had to tell them what was wrong outside the ER front door

My wife asked, aren't you going back there and tell him there is no law? I said nope ain't getting in to it with him. He is only doing what he has been told.

I went into Lowe’s, Carlie C’s and Ollies today. No one said anything and about 10% where not wearing masks including me and my wife, I did avoid older people.

"If you have a valid CCH permit, it is legal (i.e., it is not a crime) to carry a concealed handgun while wearing a mask, provided that you are wearing the mask to protect yourself or others from the COVID-19 virus," the statement read. "However, you must remove the mask when asked to do so by a Law Enforcement Officer during a traffic stop (including at a DWI or license checkpoint or roadblock), or any time when that Officer is investigating a crime and has probable cause or reasonable suspicion that the person wearing the mask may have committed a crime."

The legal authority for this comes from paragraph of Section 14-12.11 of the North Carolina General Statutes, which is a piece of temporary legislation that Gov. Roy Cooper signed into law on May 4, but which will expire on Saturday, Aug. 1, unless it is further extended.

The legislation temporarily modifies several North Carolina Statutes, which have been on the books since 1953, which make it a crime to wear a mask to conceal or disguise your identity on public and private property.

The laws are in Sections 14-12.7 through 14-12.10 of the North Carolina General Statutes and usually apply regardless of whether you are carrying a concealed firearm or not.

In addition to the temporary exception for COVID-19 purposes, there are some permanent exceptions to the statutory prohibitions against wearing a mask.

These exceptions (which are in Section 14-12.11 of state statutes) permit the wearing of a mask in certain circumstances such as riding a motorcycle, or for safety reasons while working on a job (e.g., a carpenter’s dust mask).

A CCH permit holder must still obey all other statutory restrictions and limitations on carrying a concealed firearm.
