What about possibly compromised liver? I really want to try LCHF and then move to keto to lose some weight.
I've been increasing my activity incrementally since being out of work, but my body only lets me do so much.
ETA- and to liver part needs some explanation, I guess.
Short version, sent to gastro doc because of weird blood test results. Gastro doc does blood work, then ultrasound and report shows lvl 4 liver damage.
Go ahead with endoscopic ultrasound, my understanding was to view the liver better. Follow up with same gastro doc and he's wanting to do a bike duct reduction.
I said waitadamnminute, what about my liver? He says, oh those are just some bright spots. Wanted to push the bd reduction. I told him in no uncertain terms I wasn't a cash cow and he could figure on not seeing me again. Not so damn short, lol.
ETA2- wife said that I even scared her a little with my direct confrontation towards the doc, lol. I was pissed.

Sort of similar here.
1st. be careful as you will get black listed, that shit is real. My wife went through it years ago. Freaking quacks. I have blasted my Doc once. I had to reminder her she runs a business and works for me, not the other way around. That conversation worked btw.
Like you, I still don't know if my kidneys are going to fail in the future.. I think doctors get so caught up in chasing the issue, they forget there is a person on the other end of it all.
I can't even suggest the effects of Keto on the Liver. But the weight loss sure wouldn't be bad on the liver. It will be hard to get an answer on that because most Dr's aren't Keto friendly. AHA diet has been taught for so long... You can't possibly follow the AHA diet, you will weigh 500 lbs. "LCHF" is Keto, you don't have to move on to it. It just depends on how low your carbs are.
There is a documentary on the American Heart Association dietary suggestions and if your interested, I'll try and find it. I can't even remember the name at this point.
r/keto is a fantastic place to learn more about Keto. There are even a couple Dr's that visit that sub reddit. Do NOT go to the facebook page, those folks are worse than vegans.
My Non PHD opinion. Go ahead and reduce your carb intake, it's not going to hurt. A lot of carbs are empty calories anyway. Start tracking your nutrition. That will make a huge difference. Keto is still basically calories in vs. calories out, it's just a tool to make that easier.
I went full blown keto because of my situation at the time. I lost 45 lbs in less than 90 days. Out of the diabetic range in about 6 months. My Doctor: "That is the most miraculous turn around I have ever seen in my career as a doctor, I don't care how you did it"
Sorry, I didn't mean for that to be so long. If you would like any additional info, I would be happy to talk to you. I'm not professional, just a middle aged guy that didn't take care of myself growing up and now I'm paying the price like most of us. What I did (Keto) worked for me and I never dieted a day in m life.
Last blood test, all numbers were in the normal perimeters. I'm proud of that. Been a long 5-6 years.
