Hi,

I’m trying to find a good 4x4 diesel shop to try to get a quote on a complete pickup truck build/diesel swap. It’d be nice if it was in Charlotte area NC but honestly it’s more about trying to find the right shop. Anyone have any experience/recommendations? Trying to build a complete diesel swap 3/4 or 1 ton pickup truck with some specific requirements.

thanks,
Trevor

What make truck or engine? Certain ones specialize in diffrent makes and would be better suited.

So I haven’t bought anything yet. The current theory is a mid 90s 4 door 4x4 ford or Chevy 3/4 ton or 1 ton gas base truck to convert with a crate rebuilt diesel drive train etc. Trying to figure out what all it would cost to do what I’m looking for before I start acquiring items. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Fuquay isn’t too far I’ll defy check it out.

Rudys diesel is a popular one with the ford guys located just off interstate between gso and burlington.

Sounds nice. I would look a an older ford with a powerstroke then no conversion. Converting will cost you alot of money. Sounds like a bad ass build no matter what you do. Custom fab 4X4 overland work is going to be very specific.

RUDY'S is mainly a performance shop. Great work though.

Please keep us updated with the build.

Denver is about 30 minutes

Yah with the amount of money used diesel trucks are going for I was trying to figure out whether it would be cheaper to just convert a gasser since there is a decent chance in either case a lot of major pieces will need to be replaced/rebuilt.

If that's your plan get a donor truck thats been wrecked as you'll need a bunch of parts from the diesel truck for the conversion

I work for a Performance Diesel shop in the Charlotte area. While we don’t do swaps we could certainly handle anything you needed power train wise.
