I want to capture some video from here https://www.puc.texas.gov/agency/Broadcasts.aspx then edit it down to a few key clips. It says that the stream using html5 and the H.264 codec, which may mean something, I don’t know.

I can work with a Win PC, a Mac or an Ipad Pro.

I feel pretty good about editing and converting it to whatever format, I just don’t have a clue how to capture it. Worst case maybe screen capture the video, but I’d rather dload it and edit because that usually yields better quality.

Anyone familiar with this stuff?

I use something called “4K Video Downloader”. Mostly have grabbed YouTube videos and a few videos from a few other sites without any issues. I’m using free version on Win 10 but I think they also have Mac OS and maybe Linux. Was the first I tried and has worked well for my needs so haven’t tried any others. Just feed it the URL, pick the res you want to save it as, where to save it, and voila, presto. I think this is the website: https://www.4kdownload.com/

a hit on google should find some reviews also

hope this is helpful

So, the hoster of the video is Brightcove, which complicates things. Normally, I'd just use something like JDownloader to rip it. Most rippers won't work, as this is an obscure hoster.

Here's an article with some possibilities.

I'll test some out.

Edit:
Ok, I chose this video.

Weird resolution, 960x540. qHD?
Anyway. Found that this program was able to analyze and rip Brightcove without issue.

But...why do you want to clip the public utilities commission of Texas? Seems like watching paint dry.

Looks like I’ll need to try this on my PC, so a project for the morning.

On your Mac....
Launch QuickTime Player
Using the menus, begin recording a screen capture (not a movie)
Start your streaming

Practice with one of the saved streams on that site. You'll need to mess with the microphone input (likely the internal microphone) to capture sound.

it won’t be George Lucas quality, but should get it done.
