Silencer Shop eFile Form 1 - delays?

Curious... I have some pending Form 4s through Silencer Shop and they seem to be fine, but I’m reading about issues they’re having with their eFile Form 1 service.

I’ve read that customers are experiencing long delays in approvals. Anyone read the same or have inside info for what’s going on?

I know they had issues with their initial offering of 1000. Supposedly, they fixed some things and offered another 500. In general, SS seems to have their act together... but this seems to be a bit of a CF.

I believe the last update I saw said exactly 0 of the 1000 forms they allowed have been approved. And those people have already waited 2X-3X the time of most everybody else that submitted on their own.

I don’t understand why you would use SS for an efile... the process is so simple as-is and they have already had one major efile signature blunder.

Knowing what I know now...yes. Filing directly as an eFile is a better option. I “thought” I was making a good decision with SS having my prints and paperwork already in file.

I’m going to do what @BigWaylon has recommended from the start and eFile. The SS application will either get approved or I’ll (eventually) get a refund.

I can think of two reasons...

1. you’re unaware/scared/whatever about the option to roll your own prints and already have them on file with SS
2. You bought the Unlimited Single Shot Trust (I’m assuming they allow you to use it on a Form 1 through them?)

I have to admit that I was def intimidated by rolling my own...I cured that last night after buggering up a bunch, i now have a handful of clean prints ready for something.

Called SS today... guy said <15% of the forms have been approved to this point... maybe it’ll get approved some day. I’m going to submit another of the site will ever cooperate with me by not crashing every 3 minutes!!!

Through SS? Or on your own?

The race is on... I eFiled a few mins ago. See if my eFile or if the 5/11 SS approves first.

I have been reluctant to roll my prints I bought the cardholder and newer inkpad but was unable to get a set of clear prints.

I’ve never even used a cardholder. I bought a 2-pack thinking I’d try them and just haven’t found the need.

I’d almost bet you’re overthinking it. You’ve probably rolled several usable prints, depending on what kind of inkpad you bought. I can tell you the ones I roll myself are much clearer than the ones I’ve had printed out from a LiveScan machine. I need to get a hard copy of one of those and post a comparison pic.

Yeah you are probably right, I would like to sbr my bren 2MS 556, guess I'll give it another go.

Yeah, given the ATF, it could just as likely be that NEXT month all the SS forms get processed and nobody else does.

I firmly believe that they are fair and impartial in their total incompetence.

I just read on ARF that one of the SS applicants got rejected due to the application being filed by a third party... I sent SS an email asking them to cancel my application and to refund my money to submit through eFile...

Having just gone through the eFile process Friday, it’s easy as can be and quick so long as the site doesn’t crash... It crashed on me probably 8 times...

Rejections are rolling in now...

Well... I received my rejection, so, assuming no surprises, the eFile I submitted will win the race.

Wonder how long SS will take to refund me...

They finally found a way to reduce the backlog.

Just called SS.... guy said they’re waiting on an ATF response. He immediately offered me a full refund....which I gladly accepted. I’m still a fan of SS for their Form 4 options - the Form 1 option has been a train wreck and a complete waste of time.

Props to them for cleaning up their mess. That has to be a significant expense to un-wad.

I agree. I gave it a shot with an optimistic attitude that they worked out the difficulties from their previous attempts. Bottom line was that ATF just didn’t like it and threw a blanket “Disapprove” at all of them.

I applaud their efforts... I’ll just use the eFile process from here on out!
