Per Biden's campaign website, he will have so called assault weapons registered as NFA firearms

Regulate possession of existing assault weapons under the National Firearms Act. Currently, the National Firearms Act requires individuals possessing machine-guns, silencers, and short-barreled rifles to undergo a background check and register those weapons with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Due to these requirements, such weapons are rarely used in crimes. As president, Biden will pursue legislation to regulate possession of existing assault weapons under the National Firearms Act.

How many “assault weapons” does he think are in citizens hands? It’s been estimated there are between 8 to 10 million AR type rifles alone ... add in AK types plus the rest of those classified as “assault weapons” and how any NFA ons wuld be filed? They’d have to increase staffing exponentially and it would still take years to clear all the applications ... at what costs? I’m not sure even if the tax stamp was a $200 it would cover wages, benefits, office costs, etc.

No, he will have his BFF Beto go door to door and take them. ;)

....as the lights dim from thousands of drill presses across the country spinning up at the same time. In for a penny in for a pound.
I mean, if it's gonna be a felony anyway, I can see how some people might do that.
Making the first hole is the expensive one, the rest are free...

You know, people like to float that 10million number... but that's an estimate based on 5-10yr old data. We're purchasing about 1.3million/yr right now at $40 per receiver.
Remember those crazy days 10 years ago, only a few years after the '94 AWB expired, when you had your choice of colt, olympic, stag, dpms, and rock river from any of your few local gun stores? Now you can't eject a garand clip without hitting some other small manufacturer trying to carve a niche out of the budget AR market.

Yeah I bet it easily 5+ times that figure... Good luck with that...

hey man. I bought a bunch of stripped/virgin andersons and gave some out as presents, wound up selling others (no bill of sale, naturally), and just plain gave others to internet strangers because freedom.
No matter how hard people like feinstein try to make mr and mrs america turn them all in... never gonna happen. I couldn't even tell you where some of mine have gone if you tried to torture the info out of me.

The two senators in Calif. are the ones I've been watching. One will probably be the nominee in waiting for the placeholder to slip and fall.

Don't forget that the definition of "assault weapon" is amorphous and often includes just about every semiauto firearm with a detachable magazine. So those numbers could include 10/22s and a whole host of other models.

Biden says 'assault weapons' will be registered as NFA

Will be” is pretty stout language and in my opinion, arrogant...

Registering or refusal to register is a choice that resides with the owner...that decision will not be made by politicians or bureacrats.

The other thing that I think will make this number higher? The fact their "assault weapons" list includes most of my PCCs, due to their "features". My Sub-2K, Ruger PCC, and CX-4 are also considered AWs, even though they are basically stock. My bullpup rifles and shottys are considered AWs also, according to their definition. Personally, I think the numbers would be 5-10x higher.

This guy.... If we lose the Senate to a bunch of gun grabbers.... we may have to start our own new country somewhere. Libya has like 30 people in it, good climate, little dry, basically an old ocean bed... BUT LOTS OF POTENTIAL! We could all move there en masse and start a new country. Have to do some house cleaning of course. But it seems like a good opportunity. :)

So NFA prevents crime... interesting.

Maybe I’ll hold onto my 80% build until after the election, just in case.

Buy back the assault weapons and high-capacity magazines already in our communities.
Biden will also institute a program to buy back weapons of war currently on our streets. This will give individuals who now possess assault weapons or high-capacity magazines two options: sell the weapons to the government, or register them under the National Firearms Act.

Nope. Definitely not the only two options.

I'm for doing the house cleaning here...

Ok, this is what I don't get. If those guns are so dangerous that they need to be regulated more. Why tick off the people who have them? Is he the type that says "Oh, a hornet's nest. I think I'll kick it"

They are all "assault weapons" if used in an assault.

Just read through that entire page......

well, there is a lot worse in there than making them NFA items.

One that really stood out was he hate crime one...... I could reach deep and say that if they get someone prohibited from owning a firearm on a misdemeanor what’s gonna stop them from other misdemeanors? That opens a whole new can of worms

I hope you're not suggesting the 4th box is the 3rd option. that could hurt somebody's feelings.
