I will be interested to see how it is portrayed by the media based on what ethnic backgrounds are involved in the incident. Will it be a hate crime? Will it be gang/drug related? Will it even be reported in any more detail than it already has been? Will BLM or White supremist be mentioned if more than one race is involved? Ethnic backgrounds should not matter when the facts are reported by the media, but that seems not to happen much lately. They will report whatever they can bend to fit their agenda.

Im really glad I got out of Wilmington a couple years ago... its been getting worse and worse.

Alot lf stuff never even gets reported... if they are talking about it at all in the news, its a good chance 5 other things have happened that simply "Didnt make the news".

"Exchanged gunfire."
You know, like pleasantries.

Both my kids lived in Wilmington near UNCW for the past four years. One just moved up here. The other one is supposed to move back downtown W with a job in October. I hope they find a seat for him in their office up here.

It's like, "Here. Have some gunfire!" "Thanks! I'll throw some love your way!"

Wilmington was kinda nice 25 years ago, when did it go to shat?
My kids grew up in Cary, and have been in Wilmington the past four years. They still like it down there. Wilmington has its hood rats like any other metro area.
I guess that was *racist* in modern parlance. Don’t care. It’s just a fact.

Used to be a GREAT place to live when I was stationed down there.

Obviously it's going to have a long history to piss off the BLM crowd as it was a big import station from the West Indies.

Trouble will abound I'm sure.

As with many places it depends on what part of town you're in usually. This was an exception.

A few years ago the gangs got a bit out of hand. They started robbing outside their usual areas and got into a shootout with sheriff's deputies. It wasn't long before three of them were dead in a shootout with the police outside their usual area and all of the sudden things calmed down.

I go pretty often and live less than an hour away. I haven't felt uncomfortable in a long time. Granted I know where not to be after dark and don't put myself in certain situations.

Wonder if it was an even swap? Or more like “I’ll give you seven .40s for a half-dozen 9s”?

Could and does happen anywhere but I aint lost nuthin in Wilmington. Used to visit the brew pub dwtwn quite a bit 10-15yrs ago. I've had a lot closer calls with gun play in Durham. I dont go there either anymore.

Well crap!
I had a long and profound response typed up based on my 33 years of Wilmington experience. Including, the changes I've seen, what is happening now, what I feel are the underlying problems. Also, listed all the things that are great about Wilmington...

Stupid Verizon sent some update to my phone and I lost all of it.

Short version:
-Bad roads w terrible traffic
-Gangs are here.
-Current government sucks
-There are a few places/areas that the average person has no business being day or night.
-Way too many people with yankee accents.

-Ive had 33 years (with the ability) to move but I haven't.
-It's actually a great place to live, work and play.

When the final piece of I-40 was finished. The end. We moved there in 1983. Loved it back then. Once 40 was finished. The floodgates opened. Once the Mad Monk closed, the deal was sealed.
100% accurate!

Which Monk? The original Market St one that burned right? The College Rd location was not near as good.

A Wilmington man has been arrested for killing a teen and injured another man during a shooting on Carolina Beach Road on Thursday, police say.

Trequan Crews, 21, faces first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill inflicting serious injury among many other charges. He is currently being held without bond.

Police say a 15-year-old boy was killed and 24-year-old Tyshaun Delts was hurt in the incident. 25-year-old Daquan Daniels was in the car at the time too, but was not injured.t-crews-e1594411499295-768x514.jpg
