Working from home can be rough on the body. I have used stand up desks for over a decade. But haven't had one during this forced WFH.
Finally bought the base on Amazon, some poplar boards, and made an adjustable height desk for home.
Tall drafting stool so standing and sitting height are close.
Total for the desk is about $275.

What's that you say? Sounds my project for this evening...working on organizing the 'office' space (with adjustable desk), gun wall, and reloading spaces.

pic 1 is desk down, pic 2 is standing

I had a wall like that minus the long guns... The wall between the old house and the new addition.
I bought the cheapest hardwood/laminate flooring I could finds at HD and applied it over the OSB using brad nails and construction adhesive, turned out great.

A company that I used to work for had a packing, shipping and receiving dept with a couple dozen folks working off motorized adjustable height work station tables. I thought they were the coolest things ever. The workers loved them. Company was big on work place ergonomics. If I had my dream shop, I'd have about 6 of those adjustable frames. You can get old doors at Habitat for the tops.

This base is also about 1/10th the price of the motorized desk most common in the workplace.
In offices that are cubicle world, these can use the existing cubicle desktop and slide into the cubicle footprint.
Most employers only allow Director level and higher to get the only adjustable height desk because they cost nearly $2K.

These are only good for people that change infrequently from sit to stand.
I change every 30 minutes or so.
Arthritis in my tail bone, low back and feet.
Can't sit for long or stand for long.
The vivo base works best in my case.
Can't pull a drafting stool up to Varidesk.
The lower desk doesn't allow it.
Can't put a 43+ inch 4k on one either.

15946863900144015573974770960575.jpgmy solution to the issue is a fixed work bench and gas shock adjustable stool. The stool has far more travel than I need. It allows me to lean or sit or stand.

I have 2 of those exact models at the office.

If you can do a 'full desk' adjustable, it's a much better choice.

The Vari-desk requires a large footprint that makes much of your counter space unusable. And it's subtle, but the slightly raised keyboard tray area when you're sitting is hard on the wrists.

Yeah, not saying they're a better alternative, just that I see a lot of people doing that sort of thing, there's prob 50 of different models of that type of setup in the building at work. And I've seen a lot of other places use them as well. My jobs moving over to pretty much full time work from home, actually been doing it since March but it's becoming official company policy. So, I'll be looking for a setup that can handle a small form factor and 2 x 32in monitors when I bring my office workstation home, right now just working off a laptop.
