As far as I can tell they are the most expensive variant, from what I have seen the the 147 grain HSTs are substantially less expensive.

When I was researching HST (several years ago) the 147 grains were the schitt.

Botach is advertising them for $69.00 with $10.00 rebate and there was a BST sale that went at a pretty high price, recently.

I haven't looked lately, but the 150 gr used to be the worst $/rd. I don't use HST any more, though at one time they were my go-to edc load.

Wait. Is this $69/50 or $69/20-25?

As I recall, they were all the same price ā€œduring normal timesā€. Whatever difference there is today is probably simple supply and demand.
This. I bet itā€™s just a matter of trying to squeeze every dollar they can out of the limited supply they can get their hands on.

Target sports USA lists all HST 9mm at $39.99/50rd box. The 124gr is out of stock but they had +p last I checked.

The Gold Dot LE 124 Grain 9mm that I usually buy are now $39.99 for 50. I'm glad I bought what I did way back when they were a lot less.

I think they were around $1.25 a round but I havenā€™t seen any since Wal Mart stopped carrying handgun ammo. Why did you stop carrying HSTā€™s if you donā€™t mind me asking?

As for the OP, I havenā€™t seen much difference between price in any weight except the 150ā€™s JT mentioned. I ordered two boxes of 147ā€™s from Lawmens for $34 a piece last month. They havenā€™t shipped yet but that was par for the course for them. Thatā€™s about $12 more than I paid last summer but not terrible for a 50 round box imo.

TL/DR: I found an ammo style whose performance I liked more - the HST line is excellent JHP ammo, imo.

I have about 1000 of the HST 147 grain +P and somewhere around 300 or 400 HST the 147 grain in regular. Was considering selling some.

Last month Target Sports USA had 9mm 124 grain Speer Gold Dot on sale for $.40 a round by the case. Basically half price. I bought a case.

The good old days, 147 grain @.30ppr

2017 I bought a case from SGammo of 147 grain +P for $400.00 OTD

The good ole days were when you could get a box of 147gr HST for under $20. Iā€™m happy I stocked up then. Even after selling off some of my HST stash last year, I still have about 500rds of the stuff.

With quality defensive ammo now at $40 a box, I think Iā€™ll be good with my stash for quite a while longer. I ainā€™t buying ammo any time soon at current prices. Iā€™ve been able to add over 2k of 9mm and over 2k of .223/5.56 over the past few months at somewhat normal prices, but Iā€™m kinda scared to shoot it as who knows when Iā€™d be able to replace it.

Ammo prices are why I just picked up a G44 and have 2500rds of 22lr on the way...

SGA has hydroshock (previous design to HST) for $1.10 per round! I just tripped over some and made a mental note to "shoot that old crap" next time I head to the range. Now I'm having second thoughts about that.
