I need to get my trail cameras out and that means I need batteries.

What is your go to battery, or do you just grab whatever's on sale or convenient? Maybe you have a brand that's not sold at China-Mart, but online instead?

I seem to have good luck with regular ol copper top Duracell, but want to know if you prefer something else.
 
When I noticed that Nest (now Google) ships these with WiFi smoke detectors expected to last years and years, I bought into the hype.

Same here for all battery operated items.

I must say that AA and AAA batteries are the biggest scam. Don't get me started on button cells. It's less expensive to buy a new "x" than to replace batteries.
 
I buy bulk packs of AA for work gear at Costco. They're usually duracell and I never hear complaints about them. Amazon sells garbage batteries from every vendor I've tried. That's one item I will not purchase online anymore.
 
Batteries ain't what they used to be. They do tend to leak more than they used to. Time was there was a notice on batteries that if they leaked and damaged your device the manufacturer would replace it. Don't see that anymore.

Whatever you get check for a date. No telling how long they have been sitting on the self.

They also make a rechargeable version of the Lithiums.
 
I like the Energizer Lithium and also the Duracel Procell's. You can buy them on Amazon. I have never had a Procell leak and I have used them for years.
 
i buy cheap alkaline batteries from HFT or Aldi for around .25 each (in a 8 pack) and change them out every 2 months in my trailcams regardless of if they indicate low power or not. Batteries usually leak only when they're ran down, and I've noticed the clock loses time as well. Lithiums are great, would give more run time, but they're 8x more expensive and I just don't see that math working out.
 
Duracell Procells. I get mine from Grainger. Decent price and free next day shipping.

Just pulled a leaking Procell out of my wife's neglected Peltor 6S earpro. Leaked so bad that one side doesn't function now after attempting to clean up the terminals.

Sanyo Eneloops are by far the best rechargable AA on the market. Their chemistry is different from other rechargables. The have a low internal resistance and will not self drain as quickly was other rechargables. Regular rechargable lose about 1% per day. In about a month regular rechargables have to be recharged, used or not. I've been running a set of Eneloops, about 20 or more, for about 4 or 5 years now, maybe longer, in various devices They stay charged for months if left idle. Haven't had one fail yet.
I recharge them with a Nightcore smart recharger, which also can be used in a car.
I did all the research years ago with a preparedness mindset. By far the best AA you can buy. Well worth the investment. When I buy new devices that require batteries, I check to see if it's AA so I can use my Eneloops.

Interstate makes the best automotive and motorcycle batteries. Their deep cycle marine/rv batteries are outstanding, run em down to nothing and they come back full on and last for years.
You pay for it though. If you want cheap wal mart stuff don't go Interstate.
I have no qualms about running any of their battery products.
 
The Eneloops are more cold tolerant than Alkaline batteries as well. If Iā€™m not running lithium AAā€™s Iā€™m running Eneloops.

I've had nothing but crap service out of Interstate Marine Products. The current boat has 4 batteries and when new I got less than 14 months service and was told "that's why the warrant is 12 months"!! Never again.....
 
the wife got some rechargeables from amazon (their brand) and a charger and we use them in the boys walkie talkies. they lasted 2 months with daily use until they died. Im happy with that.
 
Have best life and fewest leaks out of the good ol copper tops so stuck with them can only remember one or two leaks out of them over years. Standard everedy got half the life out of them and seemed to leak like crazy. Procells were ok just dont seem to do last as well as copper top Duracell.
 
Have these in all the cams, shop around on Amazon as prices differ. They last about a year+ with no high winter problems.

Speaking of leaks, whatever you do, dont buy the RED Rayovacs.

I would get the Duracell bulk packs at BJ Club and they leaked. Now use Energizer alkaline and no leaks. Also use rechargable AA lithium cells.
