Come September I'll be married to my wife for 20 years. She's been bugging me about what I want.
I'm not sure what to ask for.
I showed her a nice spotting scope I'd like. Beyond that the only things I want are a little extravagant for anniversary gifts.
I'd like a number of different handguns, but we don't have carry permits yet so getting a pistol in Mecklenburg is a hassle. The rifles I want are sold out everywhere.
I'd like a new Ranger pickup, Wrangler, Tacoma or Bronco...but extravagant.
What can you think of that's between $500 and $1500 that would be a good gift?

Just so you know she's getting an AR9 and a sapphire/diamond ring.

Given the times, it's too late for guns and ammo, so given the times, (and square in the center of that budget) would be a cultivating ripper. That's what I'd ask for. :)

Tractor sold separately.

How about a weekend get away at a nice hotel or quaint bed and breakfast? Get her a massage or a day at the spa while there. Have champagne and chocolate covered strawberries sent to the room. Most importantly create new memories together. Spend your money creating an experience you both can share together. Just my two cents.

Normally we'd jump on a plane and go to Europe or Tahiti or something. That's not possible this year. I like the idea though.

We had our 20 year anniversary in June. We had planned a big trip together as our present but postponed because of Covid. I went ahead and got a couple little trivial things for my wife. She ended up giving me a diary of each day the last year with at least one good thing that happened that day. Many trivial things that happens in a family with 3 teenagers but also some deeper things that I probably didn’t even notice at the time. Probably one of the best gifts I’ve ever been given.

Wait a sec... Who's this gift for? @Timfoilhat or his wife? I'm confused...

Probably needs ideas for both if like most of us Men that tend to wait till the last min.
I've got her covered. Jewelry and guns.
The problem is telling her what I want. She wants to surprise me. I've pointed out a really nice spotting scope I'd like but unless I give her a range of things there's no chance of surprising me with her selection.
I could use a chronograph, but chronographs get shot ( matter of when, not if) and coming home to tell her that I shot my gift probably is a bad idea.

You’re right. My answer does sound more like a “for her@ gift. Still think it could be for him, too, though. Replace spa with activity he enjoys.
I know what you were getting at. Something other than hookers and blow.

Lie and say someone else shot it. Lots of good candidates here. :):):)

Anybody use a Labradar? That might be a chrono I won't accidentally shoot.

@TSConver has one. Used it last weekend on my Tikka... The coolest Chrono I've ever seen...
We're you able to tell if the data was matching expectations on loads you've previously chrono'd.

Well I just got a text alert on the CC that someone spent a lot of money at Cameraland NY. Yay! Totally beats the point of having her surprise me when I have fraud alerts on the card, but at least I know she did okay on the gift selection and I'm not getting crap I don't want.

1. a real-deal tailored suit. much more comfortable at weddings, etc.
2. custom-made cowboy boots.
3. 1-oz Gold Eagle (hurry).
