I am sticking with the honduh. Gotta put a new timing belt in it soon and ramps are going to be here today. Wish the honda had cruise but at the end of the day its not a deal breaker.
If you don't mind bringing the car to Concord, let me know and I'll give you the name of my Honda mechanic. He only works on Honda's.

his first name is not Matt or Doug is it? I have 2 friends up that way that work on honda's!

Just make sure to mark your filter ahead of time to see if they actually changed it...
This is why it's rare I take it somewhere to change oil. Also they can make you wait half a day if they've got a backlog of work and I can't spare that kind of time for a task that really only takes a few minutes.

Mine's marked with a fairly heavy layer of filth.

And most places due oil changes on a schedule...and they're actually pretty good about it. You can always call and check they're on track before you go, though.

For scheduled maintenance at Firestone for tire work, for example, I'll work it around a late lunch and walk across the street to eat.

Be sure and check the oil level after. My wife did that once.....it was a quart low after. I have very little faith in them.

I had a dealer forget to put the paper filter back in a Saturn Ion I had. ( Daryl Burke) Gave my son the car not long after that and my son figured it out when he changed the oil the first time. (Changed it himself when it was due)

I want one that'll handle my wife's Expedition! Just because!
This model can handle 6,000 lbs no problem, complete with additional lift bushings and extensions no extra charge. I paid about $2,ooo for it almost two years ago, gone up a bit in price.
Ships by freight included, pick it up at the Yellow Freight terminal near you with your own trailer. It weighs 900 lbs.
I should have bought this 20 years ago. I can rotate the tires while the oil drains, I too have two cars that the old fashion metal rams hit the urethane trim.
Used it six months ago for my transmission swap in my '99 Taurus wagon. Neighbor likes to bring his F-150 over to use my lift. :) I store it in the garage when done.

I can pay to have alot of work done for $2.5k My $38 ramps will have to do until I can be able to spend Button Pusher type coin!!! I reckon a man has to have dreams!
You're right, I do all my own car work except for inspections and wheel alignments. I swapped out the transmission in my '99 Taurus wagon and this lift was paid for with the savings from my own labor. Full remanufactured transaxle, I just swaped it out like a water pump but a little more involved. ;)
Way easier then with the car on jack stands and only 6 inches of clearance for my overweight body to clear the frame. Brake jobs and struts with front end work all done by standing up or on a wheeled chair instead of sitting on the ground.

Get a truck and leave the wind up cars for kids and grandma
I have a truck. Not keen on 14mpg the 6.2l motor gets on my 100+ mile round trip or the wear and tear on it. Not much sense in using my truck if I am just hauling myself and a tool bag either.

I understand about the gas mileage but I drive around 70k miles a year and unfortunately see more than my share of wrecks. Seen way too many of the little cars torn all to hell. I’ll sacrifice the mileage for comfort and more metal wrapped around me. My 5 year old Silverado has 389k miles on it now with only maintenance being a starter. Last truck had 445k miles when I put it down. Wear and tear isn’t bad if you service regularly and drive with some sense

How many gallons of gas have you used in 389k miles? Say 15mpg. That puts you at 25k+ gallons at $2 a gallon is $50k+. Hell, he can pay cash for 2 new Honda's for that!

I have seen plenty of big trucks torn all to hell too. Just do my best to avoid accidents and pray that if I am in one that it is minor. If its my time to meet the Lord then no amount of metal around me is going to keep him from taking me when its time.....

But your odds of walking away from a big truck accident are significantly higher.

My wife totaled her last Expedition trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle at 70 mph.

Bounced off the concrete divider in the middle of the interstate, crossed back all the way to the right across both emergency lanes and three traffic lanes and tore up the steel guard rail.

It was a mess.

Her and her sister in the front, not a scratch. Our youngest daughter in the back, a minor bump on the noggin from the door window.

Looking at that mess, I wouldn't have given odds on a small car.

There's no substitute for avoiding an accident. But, sadly, the law of tonnage applies when they happen.

Meh. Oil in a Honda is like lube for glocks. Just add a little when it starts to act up. It’ll be fine.

I looked into a Tesla not too long ago. Guy online did the math and with gas prices last year vs electricity bill offset he was averaging 38mpg equivalent. (This was in Texas) I get 32-36mpg out of my 6speed Kia Soul. The Soul costs less than $200 a month. The Tesla was gonna be closer to $600. Maybe one day it’ll offset. But for now I’ll keep my beater.
