My 81 year old mom lives with us. Tough as nails. Up till Wednesday she would spend 6-7 hours in yard work digging with pick ax to improve soil [emoji2957]

Thursday night after supper she said she had a chill and went to bed early. Next morning she said she was a little dizzy. Check her temp 98.1. She said she was going to take it easy. She stayed inside reading and doing sudoku. About the same at supper time

Next morning temp is 100.2, still dizzy, body aches. Set time to go to local Duke doc in a box. They her her symptoms and say “ Can’t see you here. You need to go to Covid-19 testing site”. So 35 miles away and all they do is test for Covid-19 and tell her to take Tylenol and call normal doctor. She feels a bit better and wants to go home.

Sunday she feels better, still has aches and temp of 99 using Tylenol.

Monday test results come in - negative.. make online appointment at doctors office. We get there, they ask symptoms at desk. They said that because they are more than 2 Covid symptoms they can’t see her. Give Covid-19 hotline for us to call [emoji2955]

Call hotline, they ask 100 questions. Say they will do a virtual doctor visit. Doctor calls, ask about 10 questions, says go to ER.

So now at ER. Mom is coherent and I am not her guardian so I can’t go in with her. But they got to come to me sometime... I have all her insurance information [emoji38]

So don’t get sick or if you do hopefully it’s a broken arm or something that’s not fever and aches!

I hope Mom is better real soon, from whatever it is......she needs to get out of the hospital asap, that's where all the sick people are!!

Damn skippy. If you ain't sick when you get to the hospital you will be when you leave. LOL
I used to sweat it out every time Mom had to go to the hospital for anything. Her trips there were frequent, and sometimes she had to stay a while.
It was awful, but she made it to almost 94! "Tough old bird," I used to call her.

Hoping it is a minor issue and best for a quick recovery for your mom.

Hope your mom gets better soon. You might want to consider having her name you a Healthcare Power of Attorney so that you can be in the ER and Dr's office with her in the future.

Prayers for Mom. Sounds brutal, hang in there.

Hope rest and liquids fix her up. My FIL does the same thing. He’ll work in the yard all day on a hot day, not drink any water, have one beer at dinner and best towst for days. Not good for elderly folks.

God give her the strength to put up with you!

Obviously she's a tough old gal and will be there to drive you home!

Good luck, be strong and do what you can to support her! My hopes and prayers are with you!

Covid19 test results are taking 8 days. You could be deceased from another health condition if you wait for Chinese Flu so you can be seen. Crazy.

Both times I have been down during this epidemic I have went to the ER and both times got treated, no problems. Maybe the ER is the first place to go and the hell with the Covid 19 merry go round.

Thanks everyone

After a second negative COVID test they let me in back with her. They pulled blood and did Xray. So far only thing off is her sodium is low-probably from sweating in yard and only drinking water. Got to get her to drink Gatorade. But that doesn’t account for fever so more tests

They moved her to room but they don’t allow over night visitors so headed back this morning.

ER was busy yesterday-average 1.5-2hr wait. They were using beds in hallways. They had a separate area for possible COVID cases but it did not seem full but can tell it takes more time and effort dealing with PPE. Was glad when she got out of there [emoji15]

Hard to believe that the healthcare racket in America could have gotten worse. Now you get the runaround, can't get treatement, but I guarantee you everyone had their hand out for your "insurance" card.

Glad your mom is feeling better.

Hopefully mom is doing good. The part that really and I mean really rubs me the wrong way is the she has 2 rona symptoms and can’t be seen, after the fact he test came back negative.....

WTF over. What they gonna do when flu season starts?

So guess they did another Covid test last night. Mom said they lost one of the swabs from last test. How was last negative if they lost swab?

Still waiting on other test. She is eating good and waking around halls bitching about how they aren’t taking care of the plants....
