I often see where members are tagged(?) in a post, we which I assume sends them an alert. How is this properly done? Is there a button or do you just out an @ in front if their name?
 
Yup, just add @ to the screen name. User will receive and alert.

And if you happen to use Tapatalk, they have a feature that is supposed to do something similar but doesn’t work. I only know that because I saw @Zbizzle911 use it once and asked him about it. The TT tool results in this:

Although to the TT user it looks like a hyperlink...
