This is the saga of making BatteryOaksBilly an AK pistol. This is the original MSpaint mock up that he and I worked on. Originally he wanted a PSA triangle brace but chose the superior Bonesteel brace instead. He wanted a 7.62 as well. No problem there.

I sent him this pic of a build I just completed for someone in Lexington and he liked the Bonesteel better.

Originally I chose a Cugir PM90 kit as the donor parts kit due to the barrel length but settled on a WPB kit for a longer sight radius. That turned out to be a mistake and I'd come back to that platform.

BOB also said he liked the darker Bakelite but I couldn't find a LNIB set so I dyed a Magpul set to match:

Here was BOB Mark 1, it was a great little pistol but some of the things we'd discussed didn't completely meet his requirements. It was accurate with the chrome-lined and hammer forged barrel. The issue was with the overall length.

Here's more pics of BOB Mark 2:

Mark 2 was closer to the Cugir AIMR but with 1" less of LOP due the brace.

To get the OAL lower and keep the accuracy, I chose a WPB pistol kit and had to lathe a 16" WPB chrome-lined and hammer forged barrel from Arms of America. This lead to BOB Mark 3. It has a 10" barrel and is still accurate and now lighter and swings fast from target to target. It's threaded 5/8x24 so .30 cal suppressors can be used easily, if desired.

It was great working with Billy and I look forward to our future projects.

Dennis, Is the AK Whisperer. This is only the first of the Carolina Hammer AKs. I have asked for work to commence on it's twin. There will be no hurry because now I have this Hammer here on the compound, or soon to be anyway. This brings me to 3 AKs with more on the way....at Dennis's available time constraints.
I have always leaned towards Personalized weapons platforms. This is perfect for Me. @digitalpaladin10 now has me in his debt. Thanks Pard for answering my original PM...can you help an old man out?...Billy

Dang man! You are truly an artist. :):)

Nice! How long did it take to get the BSA brace? I’m on almost 3 months from Bonesteel at this point. And backordered with CNC Warrior, just waiting to see what gets here first.

Just got wonderful news from The AK Whisperer. Carolina Hammer @2 is finished. Really it's not number 2, there are others out in the wild. It's just the 2nd one here.
This one is exactly what we were after the first time. All Bakelite furniture. A forum member was kind enough to forward me TWO complete sets of the wonderful furniture. The people on here are the most generous I have ever come across. As in this case, this man's giving nature puts me Way in debt to him for his kindness.
I am hoping the talented builder will be putting up pictures of the finished product when I get him the furniture....Stand By................

Well number 3 is almost finished as well!

I just got my Draco/PAP shipment from CNC Warrior. They are all for my customer builds but they are being shipped if ordered from their site if backordered.

Had one on back order since the day this thread crossed my path. Anxiously awaiting its arrival, they look great.
