So it's our anniversary weekend. My wife says we're doing something she had intended to do for my birthday a month ago but wasn't open then. It's over by the Rockingham area.

If I was smarter, I would have already found some other things for us to do since it's a couple hours of drive and we were thinking to make a day or two out of this thing she has planned that only takes a couple hours.

So, anything fun to do between Rockingham and Monroe (where her friend lives and we may have a lunch with). Any good shops a wife will like?

We looked at some park type things, but everything is so hit or miss right now with the corona mess.

Fast ideas are better ideas since we were supposed to go today but had to push it to tomorrow :)

The pee see national wildlife refuge is near wadesboro. You can drive through it.

We used to stay at a bed and breakfast called The Forever Inn in Wadesboro and watch cross country nearby at The Forks stables. They have a nice skeet range too. Lots of pretty country around those parts.

Come see me.

Or don't, and visit Treehouse Vineyard in Monroe.

If you make it all the way to Rockingham and since you done let the members know you're a border jumper, hit up Taco Loko. My actually Mexican friend said it's the closest to authentic he's had.

Village Pawn and Gun, and keep on driving thru. Wadesbroham isn't a tourist area. And they don't smoke Meth in Anson, only crack rocks.

PS. you know a town sucks when the only Wal-Mart decides to bow out and shut'er down.

PSS.

If you do drive up 109 and visit the PDNWR, make sure you take a bath in at least 40% DEET otherwise you will need a blood transfusion part way thru your visit. Those Pee Dee / Brown Creek skeeters are the worst I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

You could also eat at Welika Lake fish camp. It's off 74 between Wageboro and R'ham.

THere's a gun shop around there somewhere or there was. I did a bunch of horse trading with those guys at the Raleigh gun show over the years. My grandfather's second marriage was to a nurse there and we used to go visit...50 years ago. Anywhere we went, my parents would not let us out of the car.

I grew up in Anson County. I love it there, but there ain't much to do.

You could ride down to Lord George’s antiques south of town. Tell Hairlip Ralph Ol’ Moore from the chain gang sent ya’

Thanks guys - or at least some of you...
Thanks for the few good ideas. A little less thanks for some of the other ideas. I'd rather not end up in jail or have my car crushed by a tree, but hey, i'll factor those in to my list of options just the same :)

We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us :D
